My husband had just finished school when it happened so he was home in the evenings and than he was laid off work just before Thanksgiving so he has been a big help and giving me a break with the kids. I've been able to get some much needed rest which is probably why I was finally able to heal. I'm starting to be able to laugh again with out as much pain. By Christmas I will probably be completely pain free. We are hopeful that he will have a job by Christmas. This has been the first time he's been out of work but we have seen lots of love and support from friends and family. And haven't found a clear cut answer. You answered any question I would've had. I like to know details about what and how and how much. Would I do this formula for my 3 yr old? Or would I need to do anything different? Do I order online, or does a store carry them? You are perfect for your child's progress, I can tell just by how you wrote this. You pick up on the most important points and can teach them to others in a way we can learn. I bet you are this way with your little one as well. He didn't talk until he was 24 mos old and he spoke in sentences! My girls started talking at 16 and 19 mos old and they were single words. He has apraxia, dysarthria, and hypotonia in his tongue in addition to other physical birth defects. (My youngest son's middle name is .) Now is the time to start intensive speech therapy. The schools near me are terrible! I bring my son to a private speech therapist twice a week for an hour each session. I work at home with him every single day 2-3 times a day. I only take off days when my son is sick (and we are hardly ever sick). I do the oral motor stretches his therapist taught me. I have my son chew on his Ark Grabber. I help him move his tongue with a Nuk brush. I hold down his tongue with an EZ Spoon so he can make his " k " and " g " sounds. I have a notebook of handouts I refer to. I use Kaufman cards my son's therapist copies for us. It took my son a YEAR to be able to move his tongue from side to side. He learned to move it downward first. He still cannot move it up. I can tells his tongue is getting stronger because he can make it look pointier. It used to just hang out of his mouth a tiny bit when he tried to move it. Therapy is slow going sometimes but stick to it! You can do this! We mothers are determined and fierce! When I called my state's early intervention I was told the waiting list was closed! My local school offers a terrible Pre-K Disabilities class. (Your state may be better. I always hear of great palces and I know each school is different.) What has helped the most is a private speech therapist. Yes try the fish oils! Get a bottle of Nordic Naturals EFA or Nordic Naturals Complete Omega 3 6 9 (they are the same thing) and a bottle of Nordic Naturals EPA. Give your son 2 EFAs (also called 369s) and 1 EPA. I had to pierce the capsules with a pin and squeeze them in a medicine syringe to get my son to take them. (To me they taste like very faintly fishy olive oil.) Other people mix it with chocolate syrup or ice cream or pudding (you can't heat the oils) but my son is a resistent eater and wouldn't take them any other way. Now at almost 5 he chews them in his mouth and spits out the empty capsule! DON'T GET THE OIL ON FABRIC! It will not come out ever in my experience! Work up to three doses a day. 3 doses a day make my son have loose stools so he gets 2 doses a day. Try Vitamin E. I have laminated 's post on what to give and how much and I can practically recite it by heart to any mom I meet! (Thanks and everyone who compiled that information! I showed my pediatrician who copied it to share with others and also she used the info on testing to help me get blood tests done for my son.) I buy it at my local Chamberlin's or Whole Foods store. I didn't start the Levocarn until almost two years later so maybe that is why I felt my son was not a responder. He must need the Levocarn in order to be able to use the fish oils. I posted the other day I found a ProEFA special with free shipping and for 90 capsules it was only around 20 dollars a bottle. 30 more capsules a bottle for only a few dollars more http://www.shop-in-service.com/proefa.htm Then again I know when I first tried it I just wanted to run out and buy it and I didn't care which was cheaper either! My son is saying so many new sounds and now knows how to say ball but it still sounds like baw. We didn't try the EPA or the vitamin E yet. Hope that helps.
