Guest guest
Several months ago, I met a person working on the " Visible Human " project at NIH. Several bodies donated for research were frozen, thin sliced, photographed, and digitized. The result is a set of data that is very valuable for medical research and teaching. Some of the projects have produced web applications that allow viewing the distribution of fat in the body. When you view the pictures from the following links (University of Colorado), you can click at any location of the body to obtain a transversal view at that point. I was quite amazed to see that most of the fat is stored right under the skin, even for obese people. Abdominal fat seems to be a very small percentage of the total body fat.
