Guest guest
Good job Suzanne!!! Wow. You are a busy bee. That is great that you are making so many changes that are working out for you. You say you haven't lost any more weight. Well, you lost SEVENTEEN POUNDS!!!!! That is terriffic! Just think, that is practically FOUR BAGS OF SUGAR! Try lugging that around and you will see how good that really is that you have gotten rid of that. Slow changes are the best I believe. I am on somewhat of the same kind of track as you are. Decluttering and losing weight. I feel really good about it. I have lost ten pounds and am finally getting my house together. It's a long process, but I am making leeway. Good luck, Debbie in Oregon

Get advanced junk mail protection with MSN 8. http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. My journey started when I joined here in April. I have been busy " decluttering " my house. I has taken me almost 2 months (30 years worth of junk here) to declutter. I had to come to the relazation that I was a pack rat (groan). I found it very hard to exercise let alone do the housework. So when I started on this journey to lose weight, I figured I would take baby steps first. If I couldn't go out and exercise/do house work as it was to hard on my knees and back, then maybe if I started decluttering that would be a form of exercise. I am happy to say that it worked. It almost killed me some days. But I kept at it. I started with a weight of 257 lbs., and am now down to 240. I admit I am not happy that I have not lost a bit more, but I have come to the relazation that I have probably gained some muscle (just realized that yesterday as a matter of fact), and I feel more rejuvenated. Cuz I can now see the results. I find that now that I am eating healthier (still occasionally have that sinful food), by eating more fruits and vege's that I am not as tired, more motivated, and my back and knees don't hurt as much. My DH has always had the get up and go, and whenever he wanted to start doing something, or try to get me to do something, I used to tell him to get up and go. Now I have the get up and go, let's get this party started feeling. He now says I am an awfull one to plan someone's day now. (hehe). I guess eating all those fruits and vege's does that to you. I still have one room to do, the basement - dreaded toys. I plan on tackling that later on this afternoon. And tomorrow I plan on taking apart my child's bedroom, to paint, rip the carpet out, install wood flooring, and then doing the same to the master bedroom next week. As well I work full-time. I never had energy like this before. And I will also try to post at least every other day. Cuz tomorrow I plan on doing that walking thing, 1st time in about 1 year. Baby steps. Thank you for listening, everyone have a good day, and if you don't then " MAKE YOURSELF A GREAT DAY! I swear the toys reproduce when I'm not looking. Congrats on the 17 pound loss and increase in energy. That's fantastic! > tackling that later on this afternoon. I never had energy like this before. Ripping out carpet and padding is definately exercise! On Thurs. I made 7 trips to the curb from my daughter's room for trash pick up. I then made 11 trips from the car to her room with boxes of laminate flooring. Today we're letting dh sleep until noon. After that he can play with the kids while I rip up the carpet tack strips and paint the wood trim. Hopefully the flooring will all be installed by Tues. I'm building my daughter a loft bed with a desk underneath which will be a fun project. I also want to build bookshelves and a big window seat into one wall but that will be a hard job. My projects give me a sense of accomplishment that I don't usually get being a SAH mom. Ann
Guest guest
I gotta tell ya, it's 51 here with a forecast high of 60. Pretty much like that thru the coming week. Our tress have peaked and are pretty nekkid now. The ones that still have leaves, are looking pretty bad. Have the morning news on right now and they are showing pictures of the snow going on up in the high country, at and around ski resorts. We're sure hoping that since we had a more normal spring and summer...it rained, we'll have a snowy fall and winter. We've been in a drought for several years and sure do need any and all we can get! I hear ya on having so many clothes. I have 3 large Rubbermaid storage boxes FULL of clothes and that's not even all of them. I had them all in storage closets, but when my daughter moved back home, I had to take those down to make room for her things. We're in the process of cleaning out the basement right now, and hopefully will be able to make room so clothes can be out. I have way to many shoes, too! It's so nice tho, seeing the floor and having so much more room down there. I'm also going to check Walmart for the bands. For some reason I never think of checking there...duhhhhhhhhhhh! I have tendentious in one of my hands, so I have to be careful of what I do and what I use. Thanks for the reminder! Your dinner out sounds heavenly! It's been a while since I've had a GOOD steak! I was craving one for months, there for a while. Started last Jan. It was really kind of funny. I was volunteering with a friend at the National Western Stock Show, and one day just was craving it. She was laughing so hard at me, saying look around you! All the cows...we had just come back form the stock yards! Sorry if that offends anyone who may not be a meat eater, but I am! And congrats to you Bonnie on your weight loss! You go girl! Love ya, Kiki
Guest guest
I tried the Adkins Enduldge bars not to long ago. I got the peanut roll ones, free at the soup kitchen I volunteer at. That sent me to try the others. I liked them OK. The one I really like is the chocolate wafer type, kinda like a Twix, in a way. The peanut butter cups were good too. I'm not affected by the SA's {sugar alcohol's} like so many seem to be, which is good and bad. If I have them around, I want them. Also tried the Doritos Edge, LC Tostitos chips. CAN'T have those around at all! In a weekend I ate, probably a bag and a half, all by myself. Kinda defeats the purpose, don't ya think? LOL Fortunately I don't have a snacking problem, as a rule, but I do have my times! I also really like Velamints chocolate mints, they are on the pricey side, but the BEST ones out there, IMO. I found at a Dollar store, and off brand, that is very close. For $1.00, I can handle the small diff in taste. I like them just to take that edge off, but don't over indulge, altho I could! Just throwing a few more ideas out there... Love ya, Kiki
Guest guest
Thank You KiKi. It is gloomy here in Muncie, Indiana, but the trees are beautiful, I am so lucky because my desk is right beside a large window and I can see the beautiful trees that God has given us this fall!! Guest guest
hmm -- overcast, blowing, and starting to rain here in Austin -- and the temps are much too high for this time of year (was in the mid-90s yesterday) -- hopefully it'll start cooling this weekend and I can start complaining about it being too cold I changed my closet form summer clothes to winter clothes -- have way too many clothes! but I still like getting new stuff -- somehow I can't bring myself to discard my old, so I just keep adding...comes from being so very poor for so many years (there was a year after the birth of my last child when I didn't own a bra, was wearing underwear that had no elastic left, and one maternity outfit that still worked -- until some very good friends went thorugh their closets and gifted me with their slightly-used stuff -- I doubt that you ever get over times like that!) We drove the Miata to work this morning with the top down -- and my hair is rather windblown -- I think the extra humidity from the pending rain makes it really go wild -- definitely not an old geezer look!!! Tomorrow night we are going to eat out (Ruth Chris's) -- a gift certificate from one of my husband's kids -- and I'm doing so well with my diet! Maybe I can get a huge steak and not be tempted by the bread.... I dropped 1-1/2 pounds in the last 2 days, this after bouncing up and down with 1/2 pound for about 2 weeks! I'm HAPPY! And I have on some pants that I had been avoiding.... I bought some stretchy bands last night -- this morning did several of the enclosed exercises, using the beginner band -- sometime over the weekend I'm going to carefully look at all the illustrated exercises and practice the forms, then start doing them. I also bought some stretch rope-like things -- haven't done anything with them yet. And I used some 1# cans for weights, did some over-the-head lifts, not much effort -- need to try 2# weights tomorrow. I don't want to buy any weights until I figure out where I should be. Something in my pantry ought to weigh 2#????? So (I know I'm being dense, but I haven't gotten any books on this stuff yet) do the stretchy-band exercises count as resistance/weight training? They didn't seem at all hard, so maybe after I work through the exercises and get the form down right, I should move up to the intermediate band. My husband even seems interested, and said he might start doing some of the exercises (though he pulled the heaviest one with absolutely no problem -- all those years of milking cows!). Bonnie Good morning everyone! It's a beautiful day here in Colorado this morning. I just wanted to wish everyone a wonderful day. You are ALL so special to me, I hope you know that... Guest guest
That is WONDERFUL Bonnie on the weight loss. I am sure I haven't lost any, I have had a few bad evenings of eating of eating. Too much chocolate in the house :-( It is 52 degrees in Muncie, In--I just called the temp... but I have been cleaning the office and doing my LL so it is very warm in here. I must get a hold of my evening eating! Connie Good morning everyone! It's a beautiful day here in Colorado this morning. I just wanted to wish everyone a wonderful day. Guest guest
Kiki, We buy really good steaks (tenderloin, essentially the filet mignon) from Sams -- decided that we wasted so much of the cheaper cuts (neither my husband nor I eat fat or gristle, and we throw the fatty-meat and all the trimmings to the dogs) that we now buy really good ones -- just not so often. One really good steak is worth countless not-so-good ones! Hmmm -- and I have too many shoes, too. Some of the shoes are from when I lived in GA (heels, dress shoes) about 7 years ago -- will likely never, ever wear them again -- but it hurts to simply throw them into the goodwill box (none of my kids wear the same size -- and if they did, they would probably say " Mom, that's so square.... " ). Now my shoes tend to be sandals and verrrrrrrrry comfortable winter shoes -- no tight shoes or heels for me anymore! Many years ago, when I first lost weight (back in 94!) I tried on a pair of jeans that I hadn't worn for about 20 years (I do tend to hang onto old clothes!) -- they actually fit, and I was so excited -- then I hopped up on the bathtub to look in the mirror -- and these horrible bell bottoms showed up -- LOL. Oh well (actually, my daughters said that I should have kept them another 10 years for them, the bells had come back into " style " ). Bonnie Re: Good morning everyone! Guest guest
Connie, Have you thought about trying some of the low-carb chocolates? There are some very tasty ones out there. Slimfast makes low-carb snack bars (I particularly like the chocolate with caramel and nuts) that are about 100 calories, 3 g carb -- not so bad as a full-fledged sugared chocolate. And the low-carb ones have a definite limiting factor -- they will tie your stomach up so badly that you will be VERY careful to not overdo them -- one bar is just about right! I'm not eating them right now, but I do allow myself some when I'm not in " induction " mode with my eating... Also, another way that I've curbed my evening eating is doing something with my hands -- sewing, crocheting, playing the piano -- I find it very easy to mindlessly munch away when I sit and read... Guest guest
I hope everyone had a rest filled night. I slept 10 hours last night. It seems I am sleeping better now, and that is good. Don't know if my mail, and mail is working any better today or not? Hope so; because it is all on my last nerve. I see I received mail this morning that was sent 2 days ago, and they are just getting into my mail box. So much for improvements. LoL Yesterday I deep cleaned the play room, and my computer room. Willie put my exerciser machine together, and it is going to work out just fine for me. Good bye fat hello muscle. LoL Today I am going to clean my living room and try to put up some Christmas things. I hope every one has a peace filled day. You are all with me in my prayers.
