Guest guest
Another opinion about flax verses EPA. laura Dr. Bruce 's Better Health Series Frequently Asked Questions #4 Is flaxseed oil a good substitute for fish oils? Flaxseed oil is poorly converted by the body into the extremely valuable omega-3 fatty acids. A fish oil capsule contains the omega-3 fatty acids ecosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosohexenoic acid (DHA) ready for the body to use. It is difficult for the body to convert alpha linolenic acid in flaxseed oil into EPA and DHA in very significant amounts. Consequently, the best way to get the omega-3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA, is from cold water fish sources and fish oil capsules. However, research is showing flax seed and flax seed oil may have some very beneficial effects in some women's hormonal problems. The final answers should be in the literature late this summer.
