Guest guest
Wound Repair Complex Doubles the Rate of Healing; May Find Use in Cancer as Well Australian investigators say that a combination of proteins not only help double the rate of wound healing, but may have some use in cancer therapies. The proteins involved were well known, but the creation of the combination draws on recent research showing how the proteins act in concert. The compound uses three naturally-produced proteins that the body uses in repairing tissue damage. Applied externally or injected into the wound site, the compound speeds up the repair process for wounds, burns, surgery, chronic ulcers in diabetics, and bedsores in bedridden patients. And because the wound repair process normally stops once a wound is healed, the mixture may find a use in proliferating cancerous tumors to slow or halt tumor growth. The research was presented at the Commercialising Health Innovations Forum in Sydney on August 15, 2001. __________________________________________________
