Cyn - I read years ago that you do not get the benefits of vitamin D

through the window. Because most of the ultra-violet-rays are filtered

out. You do need direct sunlight for that. The direct sunlight mixes

with the oils in your skin and produces the vitamin D. If I remember

correctly you must not shower within 1/2 - 1hr (something like that?) of

sitting in the sun. Otherwise you wash the oils off your body and lose

the vitamin D content. Just to let you know. Take good care.

Carlene is right. We also need saturated fat in our diet. It is what lies below our skin and helps protect us from the bad rays of the sun and helps us get our vitamin D into our bodies.

Carlene~~~ Even if I didn't get the vitamin D benefits from sitting in the window with the sun on me. It did feel good. I closed my eyes and was thinking about spring. LoL.

It sounds so refreshing Cyn, even if you don't benefit from the D. I need to get out and do the same, I am extremely deficient, per my doc, and will have blood drawn again on the 8th to see where its at. I can just picture you sitting by the window, rocking in a chair or not, with the light reflecting in. Just sounds so peaceful.Do you know how long one has to have sun exposure to get enough D for the day and is this something that has to be done daily? Does it matter what the temperature is out or what type of clothing should be worn? I would need to find a local park to go to which is kinda good, forces me out. Cyn - I am with you that we must treasure each little pleasure that

makes us feel good. As Sue said (in another post) so beautifully... " get

some sun love. " I hope from your window there is a lovely nature view.

Nature gives us extraordinary visual vitamins for our souls. Enjoy your

window siestas.

As a Sicilian by heritage, I wondered why I felt better when I put on Hawaiian oils before working in yard. I do not burn! But oils might be keeping in Vit d and covering entire body! then let it sink in and moisturize my flabby, wrinkly skin. lol I just love 50.!wkg onit karen/la
