Guest guest
Vitamin D might prove an effective treatment for breast cancer In recent years, doctors have begun to tout the benefits of vitamin D, and linked vitamin-D deficiency to certain kinds of cancers, diabetes and asthma. Recenlty, JoEllen Welsh, a researcher with the State University of New York at Albany, found that the nutrient might even be beneficial in the fight against breast cancer.According to ABCnews.com, when Welsh treated breast cancer cells with a potent form of the vitamin, the cells died within days. "What happens is that vitamin D enters the cells and triggers the cell death process," she told "Good Morning America." In clinical trials involving mice, the results were even more dramatic. However, the news source cautions that it's important that individuals not become too excited about the possible cancer treatment, as promising lab results are not always as successful when applied to humans. It is recommended that individuals eat a diet rich in foods such as fish, milk and eggs to ensure optimal vitamin D absorption, and make sure that they have enough exposure to sunlight on a daily basis. http://www.thebreastcancersite.com/clickToGive/bcs/article/Vitamin-D-might-prove-an-effective-treatment-for-breast-cancer096
