Guest guest
Stacie, that is funny now, but of course not then. Just now, right before I got on the computer, I was on the phone with my boyfriend and I was going crazy looking for the phone. He's like, Um , what are you talking on? It was in my ear! I wonder if this gets better or worse? Like you, I've always been a perfectionist, very organized, always knew (without lists) what we needed at the grocery and now I couldn't live with my pen and paper. I know we have an excuse but it's still scary, at least to me. Soft Hugs H. From: Stacie Buckle <sbuckle1@...>Subject: Re:FMS & Lymph Nodesdominie Date: Thursday, November 6, 2008, 10:10 AM I can attest to swollen lymph nodes as well. The endocrinologist said they were only slightly swollen, all of them, and she couldn't say what it was. It ws funny that she asked me if I ever had mumps, because all of the nodes on me were swollen, not just those in relation to mumps. They say you can only get mumps once, just like shingles, but now days doctors seem to be understanding more and more that things can come more than once, even chicken pocks. These are all related to the diseases we deal with daily. If someone could take a big picture of everyone and every symptom they could probably figure it all out real fast. I was reading the posts about the funnies and I had one to share. I am daily trying to find the words to complete my sentences. About 5 years back I was in a car accident and it was at a time when my symptoms were really flaring. Surprisingly the accident was not my fault. Regardless, it wasn't too bad and I wasn't hurt bad, just some pain in the knees. I was standing there at the accident trying to dial my husbands number on the cell and I kept getting a busy signal. I was crying over that and not the accident. One of the officers grabbed the phone and dialed it for me. Days later I realized I was dialing my own number. Funny now, but frustrating at the time. Being the perfectionist that I am I would have never screwed up like that when I was in better condition. Thanks for sharing all the stories, they all sound just like me. Guest guest
Oh , I've got one that equals the lost phone in your ear: When I crochet, I have a habit of putting the crochet hook in my mouth when I'm doing something else with my hands. I bite down on one end of the hook and it sticks straight out of my mouth, right under my nose, similar to a thermomether when you are taking your temperature. One day I was sitting on my couch crocheting and suddenly I could find my crochet hook. I knew I hadn't gotten up or moved, but the crochet hook had vanished. I started talking out loud (I lived alone at the time) saying stuff like: "I hate it when stuff like this happens," and "I can't believe I can't find this crochet hook." I put my crocheted piece aside, got down on my hands and knees and looked under the couch, still mumbling about how ridiculous it is that I can't find the hook. And sometime around then is when I saw it down under my nose, sticking out of my mouth. I had to laugh, but I was sure glad there was no one to see me. AND just the other day after my husband and I had left a restaurant, I start rummaging around in my purse, then I tell my husband Re:FMS & Lymph Nodesdominie Date: Thursday, November 6, 2008, 10:10 AM I can attest to swollen lymph nodes as well. Guest guest
Oh Pam that's so funny, but at least we get a good laugh at ourselves. The one I do most often is the glasses. I always seems to lose them and they're typically on top of my head or I'm holding them. My family has gotten so used to this that they just point. You would think that after doing this so many times that I would know they're on top of my head, but no I forget that too. The other one I do alot are my car keys. They're usually in my hand also when I go searching and can't find them. Hugs H. Guest guest
Isn't it a comfort though, to know that we are all going thru the same thing and that we're not alone and NOT CRAZY! My boyfriend would just laugh and say "you're something else", or I've never met anyone like you, thinking it was cute and I was just being funny or silly. Well, now he knows I wasn't trying to be silly and I'm not unique in how I act. I knew I wasn't trying to be funny, but what the heck I got a laugh. At least now I know why I was doing all of these things and more. Take care. Hugs to you H. Guest guest
Hi Stacie! That's really funny that you would bring mumps up as well! While I was having 10 things going on at once, once my lymph nodes were swollen, bad in my neck & behind my right ear,my saliva glands swelled up as well! They were HUGE!!! And the doctor asked me if I ever had the mumps! Which I never did,and never had the chicken pox,etc...either. Guest guest
I am definitely a perfectionist, which makes all these fibro problems worse for me. I cannot tolerate being sick in a house that is in a state of disarray, and since I'm the only one who cares enough about it to clean, that causes me stress almost constantly. Guest guest
I too always always remembered everything and with my job I had to remember instantly if asked any questions. My memory was such that on my yearly evaluations, it was noted as such. Now as stated before it's shot. Just a few minutes ago, I was looking for my splint for my carpal tunnel and was on the phone with my boyfriend and asked him if he knew where it was and he was giving me suggestions where to look. Told him I'm gonna have to start leaving notes as to where I put things on top of all my other notes of reminders. His comment...we'll have notes to the ceiling with all the notes we have around. He bought me a Blackberry so I could have GPS, (always getting lost now), there is a notes section, a task section and even email so that when I'm in bed I can read all of your emails and respond. Well this is all wonderful, if I would just remember that I have all of these features on the phone! HaHa. This is an all in one gadget and I have to say so worth it. It has really saved me when lost and is much better than the GPS systems that you buy. Those you have to constantly update by buying maps, but on the Blackberry it's automatically updated for you with no cost to you. Does anyone have THE PERFECT earplugs or solution to the sound sensitive? I have not found anything that works yet. I use my boyfriends earplugs that he uses when he goes shooting, but even those don't block out the noise. Then the smell...the only thing I've tried is putting cotton in my nose, not too effective. Any ideas anyone has I would love to hear and would trully appreciate. Unfortunately with the above and having MCS is hard to live with. I've had to leave many many places because of the MCS including grocery stores Hugs to all. H. Guest guest
H. I just use those disposable reusable ones called FLENTS that you can buy in most drugstores. They cut the noise down some but not entirely. I mostly use them for when I use the hair dryer to blow dry my hair. I never go to functions, restaurants, etc. at times or places that the noise is bothersome. Lots of folks don't understand it, but what can you do? I have always been told "don't complain and don't explain," but I know there are a lot of people who can't relate and therefore think you are "putting it on" or just plain nuts. Someone once told me that the ear plugs that musicians use are better, but I haven't been able to find them. I went to one music store and what they had was no better than what I get at the Walgreens. S.
