Go to Dr. Cabot's website, www.liverdoctor.com. She has a pretty good

write-up about liver, and I believe she has something about gall bladders

problems, too. Her diet actually keeps you from producing gallstones, and

helps dissolve the ones that you've got.

Well, I don't know, but I can't anyway. I have a lactose problem with it,

and it creates loads of mucos in me. Plus, it's not on Dr. Cabot's diet.

The cause(s) of gallstones is believed to be from an over abundance of cholesterol in the bile salts. Now, that's as regards the cholesterol type of stone, calcified stones are a different story, about which there is no definitive answer. You can best look at this as the bile salts are the emulsifier of the waxy fat of the cholesterol much the same as a dish detergent is an emulsifier of the fats and grease of cooking. You can fill the sink with water and a certain amount of detergent, this will be able to help wash only just so many greasy things until it isn't effective any more. Once it's at an overload there will start to be coagulated grease at the outer edges of the sink. The Omega acids that you need to help in the emulsifying process of the bile salts are found in lecithin and taurine. They act like the dish detergent to keep the waxy cholesterol emulsified, but there is a saturation point and once that is reached a greasy sludge is precipitated from the bile salts when this happens you have then got the start of a means for stones to form as the moisture is removed and the wax is packed tighter.

The foods to eat are those that don't add to the formation of excess LDL cholesterol or trigiserides, and are those that help to make the good type of cholesterol. The foods that help to make the good cholesterol, HDL, tend to have such things as omega acids and amino acids. These you get from whole foods, not refined foods, or foods that have been deep fried. Foods such as vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and nuts provide these things and also work towards making the body more alkaline, which means it's alive. I have often suggested on this list that any one wanting to know about the liver and foods to eat to encourage it and the gallbladders health to get Dr. Cabot's book "The Liver Cleansing Diet", because it is full of very useful information regarding what foods to eat, and not to eat.

it would be easy, if gallstones would be cause " only " by diet.

Diet is, for many people most important factor, but there are

hundreds of other cofactors, take for example toxins: ( Amalgam,

Vaccination, Aluminum poisoning, Pesticides, Industrial toxins,

Excess of toxic metals in foods and water, ....), stress, unexpressed

emotionos (mostly unexpressed anger and madness ) karma, genetic

inheritage, blood type, lack of joy and laughter, lack of physicall

motion, use of computer...

When talking about diet, many dietary factors may contribute to

gallstones (and intrahepatic (liver) stones) formation.

Most important could be lack of good quality fat in diet, and lack of

good quality water.

Good quality fat is all natural fat in >>>liquid<<< form.

Liquid fats (oils) are: fish fat, milk fat (only from liquid milk

products, not from hard cheese), unrefined non-heated freshly

expeller-pressed plant oils (olive oil, flax seed oil, sesame oil,

Probably no one should drink the abomination sold in grocery stores

labelled " milk. " Pastueization and homogenization alters the

chemisty to a dangerous degree, and kills all beneficial enzymes. It

is full of bovine growth hormone, antibiotics,and even pus. It is

filthy and detrimental to health to drink " milk. " However, if you are

fortunate enough to be able to obtain RAW milk and other RAW dairy

products, you are truly blessed. There is absolutely no comparison

between the two. RAW milk does not cause the horrible mucus problems

that the pasteurized, homogenized stuff does. It actually tastes

GOOD (absolutely delicious!), not like that " poison in a carton " stuff

that passes for milk. The quality of Vitamin A from raw butter and

cream is unsurpassed. Unfortunately, raw dairy is illegal in most

states. California is one state that allows it, and I buy it every

week (after many, many years of avoiding dairy completely because of

the horrible sinus problems and phlegm it casues me).

When talking about dairy products, there really needs to be a

distinction made between RAW (real) milk and what we see in grocery

stores. Now that I know and have experienced the difference, I'll

never go back.

I know what you mean about mucous. I have always given my younger child soy

milk. But my older one preferred cow's milk. It always makes her mucousy. I

haven't had it in months and months. And quite frankly after your colorfull

description of it I may never let if pass an of our lips!! :)

Thanks for the info. I used castor oil packs once. Maybe i should try again

if I have pain. And I drink a glass of red wine with my meals. I also read

somewhere that a little wine is good for the gall bladder and the stones.

Also, if we have plenty of vit. C.

there are a couple of websites you might be interested in with regards to food

gallstones.

I am not sure that food is the only answer, but it certainly helps to eliminate

foods that

cause you pain. I have managed to get my pain down to minimal with diet, so it

definately

has some benefits.

There are some interesting ideas on these sites

If, it's any help to you the foods I avoid are soya,wheat,pork,onions, tomatoes,

eggs and

I don't use very much dairy, mainly because I don't like it. So, they all seem

to fall

into animal fat or acidity. I can't explain soya, because everyone thinks it's

the wonder

food, but it gives me very bad excema and red rashes. I don't seem to be

allergic to these

things, I just can't tolerate them and my body then produces toxins which

present

themselves in a variety of ways. One of these seems to be gallstones. I have

never eaten a

high fat or cholesterol diet, so I was always puzzled as to how I came to have

gallstones

anyway. So, as I had known I had an intolerance to wheat for some years(that

gives me

stiff and swollen joints), I wondered if my gb's were linked in some way as

well. I have

no answers I'm afraid as I'm working through this myself, but so far with mild

non-invasive flushes and plenty of apple juice, I'm feeling 95% better.

Note for Susie.....

Also,a good thing to eat every day if you can is a few grapes(or a glass of red

grape

juice) as this helps you to process your cholesterol.That was one of the things

I used to

control my pain, also a few drops of lavender and rosemary oils mixed with a

base oil,rub

it into the gb area- then make a hot compress with a flannel(keep re-heating the

flannel

as this helps the pores to open and let in the beneficial qualities of the oils

in). They

are anti-inflammatory and anti-septic and although pain killing is not

mentioned, I always

found that it was very soothing.

Castor oil hot compress is supposed to be good, but I have never tried that.

Anyway, I hope my ramblings are of some interest or help to you.
