Yep, it IS harder each time you relapse and have to stop smoking again,, I did it 3 times,, and what I had to tell myself is that I'd smoke again when I was 85 years old,, cuz by that time, I hope I never want to again,, or it would take so long at that age to hurt me that Id probably die of something else before the smoking got me,, lol,, crazy thinking I know,, but I will NOT smoke until Im 85,, Im almost 52,, have a long way to go!Kerry12155@... wrote: It's funny but during those 10 years that I quit I really never gave them a second thought but then one night at a new years eve party I had one with a friend and it's been hell ever since. Just never start up again because once you do it's really hard to quit. maybe because you

know you can quit so you don't take it as seriously but it is harder the second time around - KerryJackie

>Hi Elaine,

There is never a 'wanting' to quit when addicted to cigarettes; there's never a

'good' time either. We want to smoke and we want to smoke for the rest of our

lives.

When you are ready (only you can determine when that time is), it's important to

do it when you have the least amount of stress going on in your life. Also,

certain foods will trigger the desire for a cigarette; for me it was coffee.

Learn what those are and avoided them or drink/eat only in moderation (which one

should anyway) and when feeling strong enough not to cave into the cravings.

You can use the nicotine patches or gum. Actually, that is what I did. They

help with the withdrawals. I would start with a full size patch, the cut it

down to 3/4 of a patch, and continue until I only had a very small portion of

the patch, 1/4 then 1/8 of a patch. I wore it until I was not in a very

stressfull time and then just quit. It takes longer, but is doable.

But before I was really ready, I didn't even want people to tell me I should

quit. Didn't want to hear it and just wasn't ready.

When you are truly ready, God will give you the strength to do it. It's not so

much that He's not willing to help you, but that you're still not ready.
