avoiding the Hexheimer effect and die off

Hexheimer effect, sometimes called " die-off " , can be minimized

or eliminated entirely with a strong antioxidant program

including glutathione precursors such as undenatured whey and

selenium. This is a systemic benefit with nothing to do with

local treatment for example using a nebulizer to increase lung

tissue glutathione.

Glutathione is the body's main detoxifier; people even on chemo

or radiation may not get sick from their treatment or lose their

hair, and some chemo patients don't even miss a day of work if

they keep their antioxidant levels well up. High glutathione via

undenatured whey has been used successfully on its own to shrink

cancer, as a peer-reviewed study on my site here shows:

http://members.shaw.ca/duncancrow/glutathione-references.html

Put another way, then, one could say that the Herxheimer effect

probably manifests if the antioxidant pool is depleted,

particularly glutathione.

Hi Duncan,

What are your thoughts regarding vitamine C and ozone? According to

Saul, vitamin C nullifies the effects of ozone. And also says

the same thing about any antioxidants.

I know you also use ozone, but don't talk about it much. Are you

still using it? Do you take the glutathione precursors when

ozonating?

Personally, I take a lot of vitamin C. I usually will not take it

until 2 hours after I insufflate or get into the sauna or 8 hours

after. However, there are times that I don't, and I can't see that

it has effected the effectivness of the ozone in the least. I will

say the vitamin C really helps with the rash/itching.

What are your thought on the subject?

Thanks,

Gail

I agree with Dr. Pressman, who goes on to say that you can take

the antioxidants like vitmain C about an hour AFTER you've done

your bio-oxidative session. Vitamin C has a fairly short half

life so it has been depleted by your next session. Elegant, yes?

And along the lines of what you've adopted.

I take glutathione precursors nearly every day and although I do

give people ozone saunas in my practice and it works famously I

don't do ozone much myself; can't handle the rash.

But Duncan, the rash is an indication of all the more reason you need

the ozone, right? And have you tried taking your glutathione

precursors after having a sauna to reduce the rashing? If it is

suppose to make one avoiding the die off, wouldn't it also help with

the rash as that, too, is suppose to be a die off of the toxins exiting

through the skin? Gail

I tried to persevere with the ozone saunas and gave it up after

about two months. Even with the the cold-processed whey, selenium

and other antioxidants after each session the " rash " was looking

more and more like large burns, and it may have been that; some

people are very sensitive to ozone.

Although I recognize that this kind of reaction can also be

caused by toxin release though the skin, we have not established

that it was that. Anyway the risk:benefit ratio was not favouring

a decision to continue; the burns were seriously affecting my

lifestyle and sleep patterns and the large areas of broken skin

risked infection.

So, now I take an easier and safer approach. The undenatured whey

produces lots of glutathione which is the body's key detoxifier

anyway, and I take hot baths to make myself sweat, which is also

a detoxifier.

Maybe I'll give it another year and try again.

Only one other client experienced rashing of about 200 people,

based on three sessions a week.

Yes, the glutathione increase ad other antioxidants will mitigate

neutralize toxins in the liver and wherever they are.

I haven't established that I'm toxic enough to provoke such a

severe reaction; your guess on whethr it was oxidative burning,

ozone sensitivity or toxins is as good as mine, Carol. I've never

had a herx symptom.

Where can i get informayion on undenatured whey is the really a good

detoxifier and is it good to clean the liver or jelp the liver to

expell micobes and toxins?

Hi again, Duncan.

I don't know if you followed my ozone experience on Oxyplus, but I

also had so much rashing that it scared me and also scarred me. I

actually have small circular size scars on my arms from the rash. I

truly thought I was going to go into toxic shock. I gave up after a

year of it. Saul had said the rashing usually only lasted 3 months.

Finally quit the saunas and just did vaginal insufflation for quite a

long while, well over a year. I also didn't look to ozone as a

healer after that. I was so frustrated with it. Rather I just

thought it was something that was good for me kind of like brushing

my teeth. I didn't think Saul truly grasped the extreme rashing. I

just didn't, and still don't to this day, think he understood just

how really bad it was. Then somehow or another I heard Den say the

rashing could last as long as 3 years! To me this had a ring of

truth because I thought how can we get rid of a life-time of toxic

build up in only 3 months. Anyway, I just kept insufflating but not

even that often. Not everyday anyway. More like once sometimes

twice a week and sometimes not at all. After doing that for over a

year and because the weather was getting cold, I thought to myself, a

sauna sure would feel nice...and so I climbed back in. Low and

behold, I've only had a very faint rash. I'm only doing the sauna 1-

2 times weekly, while insufflating in between so I do get ozone

daily. Finally, after struggling for over 2 1/2 years with the

ozone, I believe I've beaten the ozone rash. I can now become more

agressive with it.

Saul and Sherri Lee always said the rashings were toxins exiting the

body through the skin. I truly doubted either one knew what they

were talking about when it was so bad, but now I think they were

right. At the same time, I think they were wrong about the

aggressive manor they suggest one does ozone. It throws the body

into overdrive, and I really do believe you can go into toxic shock

if you go too fast. Slowing down, going at your own pace and doing

the cleansing make the road a path that can be easily traveled.

Where before I didn't know what was worse; the cure or the illness!

Another thing that I had overlooked (although Saul did say to do the

preparatory work, I just didn't) are the cleansings...especially the

liver and bowels. Looking back, it occured to me I felt the best

when I had done some bowel cleansing and liver, so that's what I went

back to. For over a month I had been on homozon before I even

stepped back into the sauna. Then I decided to do the master

cleanse, followed with a liver cleanse. I ran out of lemons, so only

did the MC 6 days rather than the recommended 10 and followed with

the liver cleanse. I have to say this has been my most

successful liver cleanse yet. I truly think it was due to doing the

MC first. I kept passing multiple and multiple large pecan size

stones. I can't even tell you how many. Then they decressed in size

to marble and finally peas size. It's clear to see why one would

have lots of rashing if their liver/bowels are not cleaned out.

You certainly have taken a much easier way of detoxing, but if you

ever do decide to give ozone another try ( I would actually encourage

you to do just that), just remember to do the cleanses first and then

go ohhhhhhhh so slowly. I'm really kind of in awe at how powerful

ozone really is.

Take care,

Gail

The scientific background on glutathione increase is plentiful on

my site; glutathione is the liver's main support.

http://members.shaw.ca/duncancrow/glutathione-references.html

If you prefer books, Dr. Jimmy Gutman's " Glutathione: Your Body's

Most Powerful Healing Agent " has the same details and then some.
