For Infrared application, I bought the Pain X 2000, model 3800A shown here: http://www.diomedics.com/choose.htm primarily because the output covers 5 wavelengths and that seemed to be important. Here is a product/price comparison between units such as are being discussed here: http://www.painxequine.com/product_comparisons.htm. That said, as far as I know there is absolutely no breakthrough technology anywhere in this area. The point being that a person can pay $900 plus as I did on the spur of the moment for a device or they can build one with the same or greater capability for less than $150.
