Guest guest
and everyone, I was just reading 's post and have a question for everyone. I've hear, on occasion, people mentioning how important it is to get early intervention and agressive treatment for fibro. My question is, what is included in this agressive treatment. Is it not the same treatment as all of us are trying? We are all trying everything in order to get better. If some one could summarize agressive treatment, that would be appreciated as I know others who have been newly diagnosed. Thanks. Guest guest
i would term aggresive not in terms of a particular treatment but rather then in general approach or attitude... so as an example, i first started having problems with aches and pain in august of 2003.. i was given some tests and treatments... i was back a few weeks later as there was no improvement... i was given peridnoze.. no improvement i was back to a doctor in 2 weeks due to side effects... i was given a few more tests... back again when the new treatment didn't work... had surgury... had an MRI... i felt like i was at the doctor every few weeks and had tried a bunch of treatments and lost half my blood (i was on first name basis with the nurses at this point).... but i had a diagnosis of fibro in 6 months and started to learn to adapt along with losing a gallbladder and learning about stomach problems along the way moral of the story.. aggresive in terms of not letting a doctor tell you oh its nothing, its all in your head, or this new symptom is just fibro...its being willing to constantly go back and tell a doc what's working and what isn't.. and searching for other answers when nothing seems to be getting better...for me that was going to the mayo clinic when docs in indiana couldn't provide me with answers aggressive is taking the fight personally and saying i will own fibro and fibro will not dictate my life to me... aggrssive is being part of group like this and sharing what works and what doesn't since there is no one good treatment for all.. hope this helps liz "L.
