Guest guest
First of all--good for you in doing all this research. Forewarned is forearmed! And you will have a good knowledge base so you can talk intelligently with the dr.. Some drs don't like informed patients as they want to be the Lord and Master of your body but that's just too bad *I* say. It's MY body and I have the right and responsibility to help decide what goes into it. I once said to a new dr that I liked to be part of the team and he looked at me like I was insane! That said, I have used metho for close to 15 years in varying doses. It seems to help somewhat. I find it interesting what you said about it not helping some things but helping others.... I was on plaquenil for a long time but stopped for a year or so because my dr was worried about eye damage. RE: the latter---My support groups have consistently said that that is a huge concern. My rheumy insists that at today's dosage levels that is no longer a problem. This is a reversal from his original position on that so I'm confused! I am not sure of the good effects of plaq---hard to tell. But I take it because the dr says it is easier on my liver than remicaid or similar drugs. I take sulfasalazine in combo with that except for the day I take metho. Speaking of remicaid, I took the infusions for four years. They did help me. I saw a difference almost immediately. The first effects I saw were in my hands. I never had trouble with remi other than when I first took it wounds did not help very fast and for a week after taking it I felt alittle flu-ish. That went away after a few months. Also had a naggy little headache during infusion but not a big deal. I have been on ibuprofen for swelling but it doesn't work anymore so on Relophen(spelling?) How did the MS develop? I didn't know there were links. I do know it is an autoimmune disorder too. Even diabetes is from what I understand--- though it is not traditionally thought of like that. Hope this helps, Greg! Thanks! Guest guest
I have been on Enbrel since 1999. It has bene very effective, but I have dialed back due to fear over side effects. MS runs in my family. Autoimmune disease runs RAMPANT in my family. My sister has MS. Coordination and work with neuros and rheumis, etc. is storng advised, and it appears that you are doing this. Guest guest
Hi Liz, I have that damn pain in the butt too. I've had it going on 7 years now. It is the worse pain I have. I use Lidoderm Patches on there at bedtime so I can sleep thru the night. But my son has Ankylosing Spondilitis too, and he gets the Remicade infusions, and it is like a miracle for him. The Doc wanted to put me on it too, but I have so many infections in my kidney, that it would be too risky. So, I am trying to get some kind of cream my at home nurse told me about. I will write later with the name of it. And night sweats I use Soy Balance, and that slowed down the sweats, thank God. in Oregon From: appsreps@...
