Hi and welcome!

That's what I'm on 5 pills a week.

Have been on metho for 13 years or so. first drops in water and then

pills weekly.

I wasn't told for years that I should have been on folic acid.

Now I am.

I don't usually see any side effects with it (that's just me though)

I've had to be off it for about 5 weeks because of a snafu with my lab

work and the prescription. The dr ordered the lab and I got the lab but

the results were never sent. I was in the midst of a severe depressive

episode this past month so I wasn't cognizant of what was going on with

the situation till I finally got myself together enough to research the

test and found out they spelled my name wrong at the lab!!!! AND I just

found out yesterday they put the wrong Medicaid number on my claim

DOH!!!!!!!

I am also going to be restarting Remicaid soon. It is a good combo with

Metho supposedly in slowing down the symptoms. I just hate that this stuff

is so hard on the liver! but we really have little choice in the matter.

I am on 7.5 mg of Methotrexate. During the first few weeks, I found it helped to

eat some dry toast a couple of hours after taking Mtx to minimize nausea. I take

folic acid daily and was advised that taking an extra 1,000 mg on the day of Mtx

and the following day would help to minimize side effects. I never needed to do

this.

I try to take mine in the evening before bed with a snack. My folic acid

is taken every day in the morning.

I was on injectible metho for a couple years and I did it just before bed, then

you sleep through the side effects.? So when I started rheumatrex I have done

the same thing, just take it at bedtime with food (usually graham crackers and

peanut butter), something with protein works best for me.? I've never been on

the folic acid, doctor didn't think it? was necessary.? Hope that helps.? Good

Luck to you.? Kathy from WI

i took methotrexate every monday morning.i had 2 classes in the morning and then

i would take my meds on the way home,i would take a 1/2 dose of nyquil to put me

to sleep.the nausea and vomiting would be bad if i didn't sleep through the

worst of it.i would have severe nausea and diarrhea if i didn't. i would sleep

for about 5 hours and then get up for 2 classes in the afternoon.the folic acid

helps it absorb better.i didn;t like the methotrexate..it made my hair fall

out.i was bald for 6 months.my white count stayed low like it was supposed to.i

started having inflammation in my lungs so i had to go on arava instead.not as

many side affects but it made me bald again within 2 weeks.small price to pay

for less pain and inflammation.

I was on methotrexate for about 4 years. I took the pills for quite

a few months until my husband told on me that I was throwing up soon

after I took the once a week pills. Then the doctor suggested

injections. I got quite used to those after a while. I had several

side effects from it but figured the med was better than the

alternatives, which my main scare is losing the eye. Finally last

november I asked the doctor if there was anything else I could take

with humira and he put me on leflunomide. So far I feel better.

Take the folic acid. I take 2 pills. It helps with the mouth

soreness, and protects the liver.I take mine whenever I think of it

during the day.
