Guest guest
Hi everyone. I am having a problem. It seems that the pain meds that my doctor has me on are not lasting. He has me on currently on 5/500 hydrocodone where I take two three times a day. But, the thing is that I have to take more than that to keep my pain level down. I am taking them about every four hours compared to every six hours that he is wanting me to take them. And my pain at night has gotten worse as well. I have started having to take some pain meds in the middle of the night due to the pain in my spine. Because of all this, my doctor who gives me a 15 day supply at at time, the pills don't last the whole 15 days and the last several days of that time are hellish. I am concern for several reasons. I am concern that my everyday pain, not just my flare up pain, is getting worse. Also I am concern that I am building somewhat of a tolerance. My mother, sister, and as well as grandmother, all think that he should at least put me on the 7.5/500 hydros. The other day since I was out of the pain meds I had to go to the ER because the pain was unbearable and I could not sleep. They gave me a prescription of the 7.5's and it managed my pain better and I didn't have to take as near as many, mind you that I was taking two of those at a time. So I guess I am trying to figure out if I am wrong for wanting my doctor to up the meds. I have two school age children and a grandmother that I take care of and they need me to be able to do that for them. Should I talk to my doc about doing this? Thanks for listening, Barbara
