Guest guest
Hi and Connie & all the gang, I am home and doing very well after my surgery on Friday. We came home late Saturday afternoon, and I have been mostly " chilling " since then, but I wanted to report in... I had both procedures as planned, the Ahmed shunt for uveitic glaucoma, and the Retisert cortisone button implant for my uveitis. I saw the surgeon who put in the glaucoma tube Saturday, and she said it is in perfect position. I am seeing my regular ophthalmologist this Friday for a check, and going back to Duke March 15 so they can take a look. My IOP was 10 on Saturday, so obviously the tube is working! The surgeon says the pressure should stabilize in the 15-18 range. It's lower now partly because of the Retisert surgery in the retina. My pain level is already down to probably less than my pre-op pain; mostly just discomfort from the stitches. No more glaucoma pain! It'll take a while to see what happens with the uveitis and especially the pain/swelling/redness in the eye socket, but I'm very optimistic. Thanks for your prayers and kind wishes. It really, really helps. Love from Pat
