Barbara,

I understand the frustration!

On your thyroid replacement, 75mg is a baby dosing. Too many doctors treat

thyroid based on only the TSH test. You need to have your Free T4 and Free

T3 tested. This is the amount of the unbound hormone ready for the body to

use, most need those number is be in med range to upper range to feel

good. Unfortunately, thyroid treatment is pretty poor in this

country. Doctors use to treat based on symptoms, IE if they had a thyroid

symptom there meds were gradually raised until they went away....then the

TSH test come out and they were told is it the gold standard,

right....not. People go in with a long list of symptoms that are documents

as hypo thyroid symptoms, but told because their TSH is " normal " that is

can't be their thyroid. You need more thyroid replacement to shrink your

nodules.

Anyhow, I won't bore this list with my thyroid soapbox....privately email

me if you would like info on a support group for thyroid :-)

I am on 2400 mgms daily 2 capsules 4 times daily along with Prozac 40 mgms

and Elavil 75 mgms once daily also along with 20 mgms of OxyContin, 2

tablets every 4 hours and I have found the Neurontin (Gabapentin) to be very

good with my Sciatic Pain. When I forget to take one dose, 600 mgm, I feel

it very quickly and it takes time to get back on track. I also take

Diclofenac SR 75 mgms twice daily, this is a NSAD which I didn't think did a

thing for me, much to my chagrin lately. I am on a major flare of just

about every " itis " I have and two days last week I forgot to put my

Diclofenac in my pill counter. Boy did I pay for it on Wednesday last week.

Every bone in my hands ached like there was no tomorrow. After finding out

I had forgotten to put those pills in my pill counter and going back on

them, the pain subsided rather quickly. Of course I upped my other pain

killers as well. Won't make that mistake again.

Neurontin is good for most cases of neuropathy including the peripheral

neuropathy we get with diabetes.

Blessings

Hi there,

Been a memeber for a while read some of your emails. Found you when I was

diagnosed with neuropathy. Was actually trying to diagnose myself. So I finally

went to the Doctors and they said I had Osteo arthritis and neuropathy. I took

the medicine they gave me for a couple weeks and it ate up my stomach. So had to

take me off. I had numbness real bad in my legs and it was hard to walk. So I

call this local Natural Phamacy we have and they told me to try this new Natural

Medicine on the market made from Shea Nut. Well on it a few weeks not and it is

really really helping. No more numbness. They say you have to take it for about

a month to see a difference but in a couple weeks I see a difference. Could feel

it start to work after a few days. It is called Flex now! You can find it on the

internet found mine at GNC. Money back guarantee came in the box. So if you have

neuropathy or any arthritis try it helps swelling.

Have a great day. I have so much I do on here having my own group don't have

time to write but wanted to pass on this information to you all!

I was just diagnosed with low Thyroid levels and my dose at the moment is

100mcg daily. Where does that fit in the great scheme of things?

Dear Kate,

I have had a full blood work done. My T3 and T4 and everything else

is in the normal area however, somewhat in the high end of that

range. My TSH was a .5 which from what my doc says places me at

borderline hyperthyroid. I am a fifth or sixth generation goiter in

my family. All the women in my family have had thyroidectomies. I

am the first out of this generation to have one. We were hoping that

my generation would be the one skipped. However, that is apparently

not the case. All the women in my family always tested, at least

from what my mother stated, as a .5. We suspect that we all carry an

auto immune disease of some kind that causes this to arise in us.

Even now we know this to be even more true since my mother, aunt, me,

my sister and cousin have been diagnosed with some form of autoimmune

disease from RA to ReA.

What are the Free's in range? " normal " ...it is a range..so you have room to

move up the range...and feel better and possibly stop or shrink the nodule

growth. Have you not had an anti-body test done? Yes, on thyroid

replacement your TSH will be suppress, IE close to zero. That's what the

hormone does, it shut the signal off..so the TSH will go down.
