Guest guest
Hi They found the bug from a biosopy taken during a colonoscopy. I had never had a colonoscopy before so now wonder how long it has been there and is it only detectable this way rather then blood or stool samples and has this had an impact on my Reiters. Im off for some more tests to see if there are more nasties lurking. So many questions, so few answers !!

Guest guest
Thanks for all the help on my alum question. Now I've got another question. I recently started using Shaklee Basic H in a sprayer for the cow while I'm milking and it really helps with the flies - which bite her legs and then she kicks and then the milk spills and then I'm MAD. Anyway, some friends suggested using the Basic H to keep flies away when we're dressing chickens and then I thought of using it on the cow and it really helps. We also used it last time we did chickens. What I'm wondering is if anyone knows of any essential oils I could use along with the soap to make a spray for me and the boys that would help keep the flies, gnats and mosquitoes away - if there's a smell that would help repel them? I don't really want to use anything else on the cow in case it would get into the milk, but just for people use. I bought some spray last year to use when we were in the garden but it was outrageous for as much as we use and I don't have the old container. Guess I could check in some catalogs for ideas. Thanks! Guest guest
Gardens Alive has a really good gerenium spray. This is currently what I'm using for my family. It does not smell too offensive. Other EO's that are effective are the mints, cloves, gerenium, lavender and orange. For our teat dip I use mint, lavender, geranium, and orange along with glycerin and alcohol. Keeps fly's and other bugs off the udder. Catnip tea is also supposed to help with mosquitoes. *~*~* Jo & Pete *~*~* @ " Laudo Deum " Farm kinderfolk_n_liddlebuds@... http://laudodeumfarmholisticgoatcare.blogspot.com/ (Exploring ways to raise happy, healthy quality Kinder, Nigerian Dwarf and Mini-Nubian goats for small farms, homesteaders and families with young children. Guest guest
Bug bites are a problem for me too. they itch like crazy and last forever, but I have found a product I like very much called SssstingStop which is an all natural homeopathic gel that I get at the local natural food store. It is by Boericke & Tafel Inc. and really does start with all those S's. I find that it takes the itch away and cuts the time they last to just a couple of days. Guest guest
Since I live now in the city, bug bites are not at present a problem; but when I was in the country however, I found that using a fresh cut slice of onion applied to the bite (esp. a bad one like a wasp) was a remarkable and speedy remedy; sometimes it is necessary to tape the slice to the area bitten. good luck, Fred Cantor 64, dx 1/98, bendamustine 2002; remission ending 1/2005; at present W & W ________________________________________ On Jul 22, 2008, at 9:47 AM, Carole MacIntyre wrote: > Bug bites are a problem for me too. they itch like crazy and last > forever, but I have found a product I like very much called > SssstingStop which is an all natural homeopathic gel that I get at the > local natural food store. It is by Boericke & Tafel Inc. and really > does start with all those S's. I find that it takes the itch away and > cuts the time they last to just a couple of days. > >
Guest guest
Thank you for this helpful post!!!! The bug bites have been horrendous since I've had CLL/SLL -- I actually have taken to using DEET (which, sadly, works great) thinking I'll take my chances with the toxins rather than submit to that infuriating itching that can last up to 2 weeks. Carole, I am indebted to you for that tip, so I can get off the DEET. I remember after treatment with Rituxan and Fludarabine, I had no mosquito bites all summer long -- it was a mystery until I put 2+2 together: those drugs are such potent anti-inflammatories that I just didn't react to the bites! > > Bug bites are a problem for me too. they itch like crazy and last forever, but I have found a product I like very much called SssstingStop which is an all natural homeopathic gel that I get at the local natural food store. Guest guest
I wrote about itching within the last month. I believe the itching is not bug bites, unless you see the mosquitoes or bugs. I began with the itching in small red patches on face and neck every evening/night for a couple of years before I was diagnosed with CLL/Sll. Mine is the kind that produced lots of lymphadnopathy. After a year or so, when I went to bed, my instep and sometimes arch would get red and itch like crazy, no bites, no rash, just itching for almost an hour. As my CllSll increased the areas noted itched and spread out, that is, they went to other places like the back (crease) between upper and lower leg behind the knee, the thigh and arms. It would move, I called it the travelling itching. My primary care said itching was a symptom of Lymphoma and since Cll/Sll has a lot in common with lymphoma, I looked on Google for symptoms of Lymphoma. Here is one site that shows symptoms from Mayo Clinic. You can google Non Hodgkins B cell type Lymphoma symptoms. Perhaps if you google Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, you shall find itching symptoms also. Many oncologists that I have spoken with did not think itching was a symptom, however, I do. After I had RF the itching stopped. And so did the lymph nodes disappear and the WBC's when from 183,000 to the present just under 5000. Dermatologists do not recommend topicals over the counter with corticosteroids, cortisone, if used often it will ruin your skin. Before I received RF, I controlled the itching with Zyrtec. Each pill containes 10 mg. I broke them in half and took 5 mg per day. It stopped the itching. Seems that if the itching begins with CLL/Sll, get worse as the disease progresses, and goes away with treatment, it is most likely due to the disease. Guest guest
My husband was diagnosed with CLL 1.5 years ago. Probably for the past 4 years, whenever he swam or got sweaty after snow blowing, he would break out in these awful and itchy hives. They would turn into welts and disappear within a half hour. His oncologist absolutely said it is a symptom of CLL - like an allergic reaction. Sherry
Guest guest
Hi - I'm so sorry to hear about this itching problem that afflict some of you. It also does seem that bug bites last longer, as well. Mine were definitely bites - so others with clearly defined bites should know that this can also occur. Perhaps it's a similar mechanism: an allergy or some other stimulus that causes an inflammatory response, which the body can't easily resolve because of the immunologic imbalance. Best, Marietta > > My husband was diagnosed with CLL 1.5 years ago. Guest guest
Sherry: That sounds similar to my experience. They began two or more years before diagnosis when as my onc. said the disease was " brewing " The length of the itchiness in one place was anywhere from 1/2 to 1 hour and then would move someplace else. Good to hear about the opinion of other oncologists who have had enough patients to report the itchyness to them to believe it is related. I suspect some patients have never mentioned it to their oncologists and did not relate the two conditions (itchy skin and CLL/Sll). And then there are probably the majority who do not get the itchy skin, just like not all patients loose weight with their worsening of CLL. I gained rather than lost weight, but the weight gain may have been due to Cymbalta that I take for fibromyalgia. I also did not get the drenching sweats as others do, and I was in Stage 3 when I had RF. I had some head sweats mostly in very warm weather outside, but not the bad sweats that some have when they have to change their clothes and sheets. The symptoms differ from person to person, one reason I believe, as do the experts, there are many types of CLL which one day shall be identified after much research Marilyn Barbera > > My husband was diagnosed with CLL 1.5 years ago. Guest guest
I think we need to understand that there's a difference between bug bites and generalized itching. Bug bites happen to everyone. With me with CLL/SLL they last longer, itch more intensely, etc. than before I had the disease. Why? I suspect it's because of my immune system's inability to stop the inflammation --that B cell thing (?). But I KNOW that my itching is from bites -- I can see them; they happen after I've been in the country, etc. etc. -- not from generalized systemic itching. Itching in general? I fortunately do not have experience with that. Important distinction to make if you talk to your oncologist, I guess! Best to all! Marietta > > > > My husband was diagnosed with CLL 1.5 years ago. Guest guest
I see there has been much talk regarding " bug bites " and severe reactions. It is very interesting to note that we do see these " over exuberant " responses to bug bites. I do suspect that some of these bites might just be local reactions to irritants as well that would not normally generate a reaction. My belief is that these excessive reactions are just part of the immune dysregulation seen in CLL patients. The immune system normally requires a balance of T cell and B cell mediated reactions (call Th1 and Th2). The CLL and our treatments interrupt this normal balance. This interruption is probably what also causes severe neutropenia after rituximab and anemia that lasts for a long time after fludarabine (red cell aplasia). > > > > My husband was diagnosed with CLL 1.5 years ago. Had I guess a bug hatch over the week end. It was different in a way than other hatch nights. I went for almost 3 whole days with no bugs or wormies on the privates. Than the fast runner bugs appeared. Still can not see them, but they are the ones that go up my butt. Which they did even off and on durring the day. I would lay on the couch to rest because the bed is wet from the proxide. Than about 5 to 10 bugs would race onto my body and 1 or 2 would find my butt and up they went. Than they would like come out for air once in awhile. Very discusted had me all in peices on Sunday. Now I am more use to it. I think today they are gone. Not sure if they are gone out of my house today. Oh I was getting some tiny pinching ones off my carpet. Have not had that for a long while. I think the wheather change may have something to do with it or my husband being home so often kept me from spraying enough times to keep those numbers gone. > Well also my legs and hips crippled me up and I was in so much pain that just added to my stress. Making the small amount of bugs seem like a huge ordeal. I started the Pau de' Arco yesterday after lunch. I did 1 drop to see. Tasted good. After dinner I did 3 drops. Really did good. This morning on an empty stomach I did 5 drops. I did really good. I like how it taste. I am going to build up to the suggested amount of 25 drops 3 times a day. I think that will keep some types of mites away. Next month when I add the Black Mold and Fungas Tea that should kill whats left in the body so that the all types of mites will no longer see me as a dinner. > All in all even with still having some waves of bugs. It will get you way ahead from whare you stand now and that is wonderful. For those whom have the ability to do the enfarer heat and diet control with it will see the biggest improvements. I found my cheap heating pad set on high helped me a little bit. Steaming myself in the shower on hatch nights helped also. Did not want to do that every day because of money on the gas bill. Just a luxery to fight with on hatch nights. > Well the Arizona man is in a new motel but to expensive and will be moving again. He is sort of frusterated. At church the men whom are helping him pay his room are getting frusterated. Some of them threw the want adds at him and told him to get a job. He said he does not know if he could get and hold a job with the exhaustion he gets from cleaning and bathing all the time. My mom is taking him to hunt for a cheaper motel and she now has given him rides to the store. I am scared for her. She eats a very strict and healthy diet, but she has a weakened emmune system which allows her to get Shingles pluss her damaged heart. She says she does not think she can get this. I warned her though. I am really worried about that. I even told Dough (AZ man) that I was worried about him spending to much time in my moms car and her becomming infected. I made my mom promise to wash the leather seats down with an orange oil. Oraganic one. She already had one for cleaning and said she would use it after she was done taking Dough about for new dwellings. > I told my mom that some of us can come up with 50 dollars to help get the AZ man on the 3 points plan which he still wants to try it. My mom offered to back the rest. I guess when I get my tax return I will place an order and have it sent to AZ man and sent copies of the order to those whom wanted to donate and than they can just sent me the money. I need to also contact McCain today and ask if there is a way to set up a fund for him so people here can donate to the healer web site on Dougs behalf. I find it works even better, when mixed with good quality tea tree oil. I just rub some of the oil on my hands, and then spray the epsom salts in with it- instant anti-mite solution. The alcohol seems to be overwhelming to the liver, among other organs (probably affects the lungs as well). Getting fresh air and sunshine seem to help too (along with exercise). Guest guest
I could send say a huge 10.00 bill in a " sneaky way " to Your Mom..cuz I am so sneaky and rich lol --- torpedolynn@... wrote: From: " Lynn " <torpedolynn@...> bird mites Subject: Re: Bugs Date: Thu, 11 Feb 2010 14:24:16 -0000 Hi Rose Thank you for helping also. I could e-mail you my moms address. Maybe we could send her the money order sense she seems to be the only church member whom believes he has a dease and bugs and has been buying him Baking Soda and Coconut oil amoung many other items. That way she can keep buying him what he request he needs. She does not give him the money. Not sure if he will use it for drink. Also its easier for her to hope into her car and get him supplies sense he owns no wheels. Well thats one idea. Unless you want to make a money order out to him and let him try it on his own. He does buy stuff himself to fight this thing. Not sure how he would cash it without a bank account. Not sure if he has a bank account. Guest guest
Lynn, tell your mom to use Gold Bond talc all over her body - that will keep her from getting the bugs on her. I used to use it on my sheets to keep the bugs off the bed and it worked, maybe it will work for her car too! > > Hi all > > Finally doing better today. So far. They are so small from when I first started the 3 points plan and I know that is what has gotten me this far. Gives a body a huge fighting advantage in winning this war. So all of you who try it. I better do that soon here. > > Well I know there was a ton more to say, but gotta run. > In Light Lynn >
