Guest guest
Hi all, I joined this list yesterday after being diagnosed with AS 2 weeks ago, after left knee surgery (scraped the surfaces, removed a floater) in July for swelling which then re-appeared in right knee. Surgeon recommended I see a rheumatologist since there was no trauma to the right knee and my ANA was high (1:320). Rheumatologist did more tests to rule out other things and settled on AS in my knees, not in my spine. I'm positive for HLA-B27 too. No one else in family has ever heard of this. From what I read on the internet, AS is milder in the spine in women and does affect other joints first. I'm having occassional shooting pains in sacroiliac joint 1-3 times per week, but that's a story for another day. She started me on 1 week of prednisone that just ended but the swelling is back. It's only in my knees and makes it hard to go up stairs and to sit down. Those are my only complaints now so I think I've am very lucky that it isn't worse and that the disease waited until I was in my late 40s to appear. I don't like the potential side effects of sulphazine so I'm interested in any natural, holistic approaches that you all have tried. Dr can't tell me how disease will progress so I'm struggling with accepting the unknown too, but I know the good Lord is in control, so I'm still going to be okay. Hi everyone Hope this intro isn't too long. and husband and two Great Danes outside Dallas. ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Have a burning question?
