Hi

I am in the minority (15% I think) that are HLBA-27 negative, but I still

have severe flares of ReA in any case. (I've just had my hip replaced, which

is pretty severe!)

Sed rates are only one indicator of ReA and I have been quite ill at times,

with swollen joints etc, without a markedly high sed rate. (My sed rate

tends to rise slowly over several months of disease activity).

Sometimes women are overlooked for ReA, as it is rarer in women to start

with. Combined with the fact that being HLBA-27 negative also puts her in

the minority, it might be wise for your sister to see a 2nd rheumatologist

:)

HLBA-27 negative and female (some of us have all the luck! LOL)

Was your hip replacement because of Reiter's? I was unaware that it

affected bone! I was under the assumption that it only effected the

ligaments and tendons surrounding the joint?

Have you heard of a surgery for Reiter's? I just looked at a website

that claims there is some type of Reiter's syndrome surgery. If

there is such a thing, what do they cut on?

I have an appointment with my rheumy on Tuesday the 20th. I am going

to ask him about it. If there is anything you would like for me to

ask him, please let me know and I will fill you in on Wednesday.
