Guest guest
Hi all. I have chronic Reactive Arthritis (sero-negative) and am in the midst of a flare that started 14 months ago. The flare started in my elbow of all places and gradually spread to my right knee (my usual worst joint) and sacroiliac joints. I am currently on Indomethacin (slow release, 75 mg twice daily, which is quite a high dose) and I started on Sulphasalazine (1000mg, twice daily) 3 months ago. I see my Rheumatologist next week and expect he will add methotrexate to my drug regime, as I have had no improvement so far in terms of pain and stiffness (although the swelling in my knee has calmed down). My question is, should I ask for x-rays or similar to be taken of my sacroiliac joints and right knee? I am 40 and have had this disease off and on for 12 years now and have had quite a few injections into my knee over this time. My affected joints have never been x-rayed or scanned. I suspect the knee joint is damaged, as I have pain and limp badly even when the knee is not swollen. Is there any point in finding out that joints are damaged? Any advice would be appreciated! in NZ
