Guest guest
, It makes more sense that she was talking about pills. If you're on 4 pills @ 7.5 each, you are at the normal starting dose of 15mg. 9 pills would be 67.5 mg, which is way to high except for cancer patients. I'd ask at your next visit. Sometimes doctors fling all these numbers around, and we miss something. I understand your mom's concerns over mtx. I felt the same way before starting it in February. It took me awhile before I would start taking it. I read many research abstracts and they gave me the courage to start taking it. As said, mtx is the oldest and most widely accepted treatment of rheumatic diseases. Because Enbrel and Remicade are in a completely new class of drugs, some doctors don't want to prescribe it especially when you haven't tried the other meds first. I'm sure if you failed at everything else, your doctor would consider trying Enbrel or Remicade. I'm happy to hear that you had no problems from your first dose. Don't forget to take your folic acid! a
Guest guest
a, I am assuming 's pills are 2.5 mg each and that would explain her doctor's 3 to 9 range (7.5 mg to 22.5 mg). This whole thing is starting to make some sense now! Yes, listen to a, : please don't forget to take your folic acid. Hope you continue to feel no ill effects from the MTX. ----- Original Message ----- From: " a " <paula54@...> < > Sent: Thursday, May 24, 2001 9:50 AM Subject: RE: [ ] Re: MTX Dose > , > It makes more sense that she was talking about pills. Guest guest
, Thanks for clearing that up. I knew that the pills were 2.5 mg, but brain gas made me calculate 7.5 mg. 's doctor's dosage makes sense now. a -----Original Message----- From: Matsumura [mailto:Matsumura_Clan@...] Sent: Thursday, May 24, 2001 2:29 PM Subject: Re: [ ] Re: MTX Dose a, I am assuming 's pills are 2.5 mg each and that would explain her doctor's 3 to 9 range (7.5 mg to 22.5 mg). Guest guest
I have been taking MTX for about 10 years. I only take it once a week. I took 4 of mtx tabs when I first started. I took it on the weekends and my doctor told me I could split the dose over two days (For ex.: two on Saturday night and two on Sunday morning) if I found it upset my stomach. I found little difference in doing that so I take all at once. I have never heard of it being taken 5 days a week however. -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: " snowdrift52003 " <snowdrift52003@...> > > > Hi Nan, > Yes--methotrexate. Guest guest
BTW as an addendum to the previous response. My dosage is 2.5 mg tabs - 6 tabs- or a total of 15 mgs. per week. -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: " snowdrift52003 " <snowdrift52003@...> > > > Hi Nan, > Yes--methotrexate. Guest guest
April, MTX isn't supposed to be taken every day. It is taken once a week for RA.
