Guest guest
I am surprised at myself, that I never thought to ask this question before. Is there a specific diet that helps with spondys, or certain foods or groups of foods that should be avoided? For example, in trying to help get my Fibromyalgia controlled, I followed the HIPLOC diet, which is high protein, low carb. Protein was supposed to be the main source of energy, followed by (only) complex carbs. Any meats or dairy products that are high in saturated fat, caffeine, alcohol, and sugar are no-no's, as are " nightshade veggies (tomatoes, eggplant, green peppers, white potatoes, and according to Ray, onions), as they produce solanine, a pain producing substance. Also no white flour, processed foods, or MSG. It's not a bad diet at all, and I felt better when I was on it...I kinda slacked off after I was dxed with the spondy....didn't see the point. But now I'm realizing that there IS a point in it all, because I'm feeling worse than ever. So that's why I'm posting here, to see if anyone knows of a solid diet that is supposed to improve the overall well being of a person with a spondy? Are there any books out on the subject? I'd really appreciate any input, from personal experience to names of books or websites. Thanks all! Jen
