Guest guest
Well, finally our Federal Government owned up to some rather bothersome projects done in the late 50's and up to 1968. The sprayed Agent Orange and its more potent brother Agent Purple all over CFB Gagetown, New Brunswick, to keep the brush and grass down for tank and artillery firing exercises. I did more than my fair share of crawling on my belly on those same ranges at the same time. It has only been publicized today. Knowing how our DOD operates, if they did it at one artillery and tank camp they did it at others, two of them where I spent a few years. Sheds a whole new light on my own health problems. That and being up close and personal with PCB's in the late 60's, it is a wonder I am still alive. +Dave
Guest guest
Though it's a disgrace that it happened and took this long for them to open up on what they did, I am thrilled that you persevered and stayed with us. It took a long time for the US gov't to get close to admitting that our men in Viet Nam were sprayed with the stuff and that it just might have lots to do with the health problems of those men over there who are still alive. Am embarassed to say I don't know a thing about Agent Purple, I guess I'll have to get educated there. GA
Guest guest
Thanks . Agent Purple is Agent Oranges bigger brother and was over 3 times as powerful as Agent Orange. You may guess who helped in the spraying program setup and getting started.. I have always known about one base that has many chemicals used at it and buried underground in it and that one is 21 miles as the crow flies from our house. It is where they tested all the gases from the WW 1 era on. They find another cache of old cannisters every once in a while. Record keeping during those years was very shoddy. But never knew that the two defoliants were used. You could smell a chemical but we were told it was a new insecticide used in foggers, pyrethrins known as Raid back then. I really cannot complain too much though. I did enough of my own stunts that were also harmful to my health, but were fun. They are going to be paying me next year anyway. Old Age Pension time.<GBG> Blessings Dave
