Guest guest
Hi Don & Kathy, Kathy, thanks for offering advice about the poison ivy with those little sugar pills but I'm going to take Don's advice and go to my health food store today and buy some licorice tea. I've been drinking rose hips tea but will switch to this licorice tea. I didn't go back to the doctor because I don't want to get those shots and would rather have this poison ivy heal naturally. Don, what does DGL stand for? Again, Kathy and Don thank you very much for your help. Hugs, Janice from Ohio ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Don said: I suggest you try taking some licorice/tea, not DGL, to help you heal the poison ivy. The licorice should work to boost cortisol in your system, which is what the shots do. I haven't tried this to see if it works, since it has been several years since I have had poisen ivy. Guest guest
DGL stands for De-Glycyrrhizinated Licorice. Licorice contains a naturally occurring substance known as glycyrrhizin. It is that substance that influences cortisol. If you are not familiar with using licorice I should mention that when consumed, glycyrrhizin has been shown to increase blood pressure and water retention. So its use would be contradicted if you have high blood pressure. It also causes potassium loss so make sure to have a potassium rich diet while using it. Don > what does DGL stand for?
