I too, am doing much the same as Ken, except I also take Taurine. I use the

500mg sizes once a day along with my two to four tabs of 1200 mg each of

lecithin caps. I usually take two lecithin, one taurine, my liver guard by

Source Natural, and on occasion a gulp of flaxseed oil or an essential blend

of oils. Basically thorough out the day I find that I try to find foods that

contain some sort of EFA. One of my favorite things is to get a medley of

olives with peppers and have that with a salad for a lunch, or just pick at

it throughout the day at work.

You might think I would have gained a lot of weight doing this but I

haven't. In fact I've even been able to enjoy my stout beers without to much

ado for worry about regaining my old .....mmmm....pregnant samurai gut.

After 1 1/2 years of being part of this group and suffering over 7

attacks... I done an exhaustive search in an effort to cure my gb

problems without surgury. I had initial success with the flushes,

but six months later I had additional symptoms and attacks.

I believe that through this group and extensive research on the

internet... and yes, God's grace... I may be completely cured of my

gb problems.

For those of you who co0ntinue to suffer... I belive it is important

to first identify if you have calcium stones or cholestorol stones.

Most of us have cholestorol stones that often do not show up on the

ultrasound, but hurt like the dickens! More than 80% of all stones

are cholestorol stones.

I do not have the cure for calcium stones, but perhaps breakstone tea

helps... For cholestorol stones I am convinced that three things

will significantly cure you and it is NOT avoiding certain " alergic "

foods. I too had many foods that were taken off my list when I

suffered gb problems. Pasta, tomatoes, chocolate, etc. caused

significant indigestion. Now I eat everything... except dairy with

NO problems...

The cure... I said it before... but now more convinced...

Granulated LECITHIN. For the past 5 months I have been taking a

tablespoon of granulated Lecithin each morning in an ounce of oj and

some flax seed oil. I feel terrific, lots of energy and am regular

again. Most of all... there is NO gnawing discomfort or pain in the

gb or middle back area like before. Again... I eat whatever I want

except milk and icecream, with very little cheese.

My reasearch indicates that cholestorol stones build up in both the

gb and the liver caused by clumping cholestorol around calcium

specs. The way to cure the problem is to get rid of the calcium

specs by avoiding dairy and taking lecithin that will give you the

Choline and other chemicals needed to smooth out the bile.

Do a simple search of Lecithin on the internet and especially in the

Medical school sites and you will find that research has shown:

Lecithin has cure gb and fatty liver problems in both humans and

research animals. Most reknown alternative med doctors list Lecithin

as a #1 approach to curing the problem.

The following is just a little bit of some information on the

subject. Perhaps I will change my tune with another attack... but

right now... I feel cured!

I hate to hear that someone is going into surgery BEFORE they have

tried flaxseed oil and Lecithin to cure their prolems. Type in

Lecithin Fatty Liver into your search engine and you will find a

wealth of knowledge and the possible cure to your health problems.

Supplemental choline (in the form of lecithin) has reversed fatty

liver in TPN patients.60 In the study patients had been treated for

an average of 7 years with TPN solutions providing 17 kJ/kg BW/d (4

kcal/kg/d) as 20% Intralipid (delivering approximately 6 mg/kg BW/d

[50 µmoles/kg/d] of choline as phosphatidylcholine).60

These patients had low plasma choline concentrations (average 6.3

µmoles/L). In a double-blind protocol, 20 g commercial lecithin (30%

phosphatidylcholine, delivering approximately 36 mg choline/kg BW/d

[300 µmoles choline/kg/d]) or placebo (soybean oil) was administered

twice a day for 6 weeks. By the end of this experimental period,

plasma choline had risen by more than 50% in the lecithin group, and

decreased by 25% in the placebo group.

Fatty liver was assessed through computerized tomography. In the

lecithin group, liver density increased (fat decreased) by

approximately 30% (p<0.05). In the placebo group liver density

increased by only 8% (nonsignificant). This strongly suggests choline

is an essential nutrient during long-term TPN.

Supplemental choline, in the form of lecithin, has reversed fatty

liver in patients receiving total parenteral nutrition (TPN). 60

Research by Lieber and colleagues suggests lecithin may also protect

the liver independently of providing choline. In two studies baboons

were fed diets high in alcohol with or without added lecithin for up

to 8 years. About 80% of those not provided supplemental lecithin

developed liver fibrosis or cirrhosis, characterized by collagen

accumulation, fibrosis, and scarring. However, no animals fed

lecithin developed fibrosis or cirrhosis.61,62 An earlier study

showed choline did not provide this protective effect.63 In vitro

studies showed lecithin increased the activity of hepatic

collagenase, suggesting lecithin helps prevent alcohol-induced

fibrosis and cirrhosis, partly by promoting collagen breakdown.62

In an editorial on diet and liver disease, Dr. Graeme Macdonald and

Dr. Lucey, from the University of Michigan Medical Center in

Ann Arbor stated, " Perhaps the most exciting demonstration that diet

may have a beneficial effect in protecting against liver injury has

come from Lieber et al, who reported recently that long-term

supplementation with phosphatidylcholine protected

baboons...chronically fed alcohol from developing liver fibrosis and

cirrhosis. " 64 Lieber's group is currently conducting a multicenter

clinical trial of lecithin supplements in alcoholic patients.

" Perhaps the most exciting demonstration that diet may have a

beneficial effect in protecting against liver injury has come from

Lieber et al, who reported recently that long-term supplementation

with phosphatidylcholine protected baboons . . . chronically fed

alcohol from developing liver fibrosis and cirrhosis. " 64

Hi, Dale,

My liver tonic that I get from Dr. Cabot has taurine in it. But I have a

question, since I did this last liver cleanse this past Sunday, I'm still

sore a little and my mid back hurts. I would love to get my back to quit

hurting.

So any suggestions? Maybe it worked my GB too hard or my liver, huh?

Bye,

Susie

Hi, Dale,

Thanks for writing. I just love Dr. Cabot's diet, don't you? I mean it's

really helped me. I know that 100 percent. I couldn't have made it this

long without her diet. My husband and I followed the eight-week plan from

August to whenever it ended. Then we have pretty well stuck to the basics of

her diet, but I'm feeling like I need to get back on it.

It's strange, but my husband doesn't have a GB problem at all and he went on

the diet with me. He expected it to just be another diet craze, but two days

after we started on the diet for the first morning in many, many years, we

actually woke up feeling like a fog had been lifted from our brains. We had

energy plus! He's a believer in her diet.

It was a very hot summer last year where we live, late summer. But we walked

every afternoon late while it was still in the 100s, and couldn't feel how

hot it was, i.e., it didn't bother us at all. Of course, he lost more weight

that I did.

I still do her diet, just the basics. Sometimes I get off of it a little.

Like last Friday afternoon I hadn't gone to the grocery store and gotten food

and I was hungry. See, I work at home. Well, I found a can of 's

soup, beef and barley, and cooked it. All Friday night it made me have a

minor GB attack. I could have probably eaten cheese or something and it not

hurt me. That hurt me! It was weird. I think I've figured it out, though.

I had been on 1 quart of organic apple juice for about 9 days. Usually I go

5 to 7 days and do the cleanse. Well, I've had work to do, so I put it off.

I must have had a huge buildup of sludge in me, in my GB, and that set me

off. When I did the GB cleanse Sunday night, that's the most that I have

ever passed in one cleanse. Just a huge amount. That organic apple juice

must have really broke that stuff up, plus I've been taking the AIM Herbal

Fiberblend. I'm still just wondering if that stuff broke up a huge stone.

There was one piece of sludge that looked like it was one piece. Maybe about

4 inches long. My husband thought it was one huge piece, very long piece.

It was just huge. But as the toliet flushed, it did break up a little. I

must say my soreness is eased somewhat today. My soreness felt like I had

done 50+ sit-ups or something. That was the type of pain it has been. So

maybe that huge piece had broken up into semi-sludge or something. It was

pretty strange, really.

Well, thanks for writing.

Take care,

Susie

I do understand what you're talking about. I tended to have a discomfort but

not really what I could call pain. It tends to feel like I've done too much

heavy lifting or having been bent over too long during a day of work. Unlike

a low back pain its tendency is to feel more like it wraps around the lower

area of the back but not as low as the sacro.

I tended to only be somewhat sore for just a few days, but not really sore

just uncomfortable. It never got to be a week after doing a cleanse, from

the best of my recognition. If you did move some larger stones then I'm sure

you could very well feel uncomfortable for a bit longer than normal. It is

one of the reasons it is suggested to wait at least two weeks before

attempting the next flush in a series.

The best suggestion I can have is to be sure to take note of what foods

stimulate your gallbladder and liver too much and reduce or avoid them for

the time being. Some foods that really got to me were cabbage and pecans.

For some reason they would really get my liver and gallbladder setoff and

I'd feel it more towards the point of what could be considered pain.

However, I only ended up taking pain medication a couple of times after

eating these things, because that was when I was finally figuring out the

causes of the pain, and it was also during the time before I was free of all

stones. After reading Dr. Cabot's " The Liver Cleansing Diet " this made more

sense to me as to why I had pain, or better yet; extreme discomfort, from

eating certain foods that are considered good for over all liver health.

Heck, I just went out for a late lunch with some friends today and ate

plenty of cabbage with my Taiwanese food without much ado in my liver area.

I would also suggest eating food that is loaded with good fats, as they tend

to help the liver to be provided with the essential fatty acids it needs to

function better. Enzymes and mineral supplements are pretty important too.

Along with all of this it also doesn't hurt to have some sort of

bowelcleansing program working for you so that the liver doesn't end up

working at reprocessing some older toxins coming through the intestines.
