Debra,

I'm so glad that you're still able to work. I'm still working full-time

too.

I have not had mucoceles. I have had chronic severe canker sores in the

mouth and occasionally the genitals, but mostly the mouth especially the

tongue. It was sometimes impossible to eat or talk. Here's what cured them

once and for all for me: Enbrel. I give myself twice weekly injections of

Enbrel. After I had been on Enbrel 2 weeks, my mouth completely healed and

stays healed as long as I don't eat popcorn. I've been on Enbrel 8 months

now. It has been a miracle cure for the canker sores, although not so much

for the arthritis. The arthritis has been a much slower improvement. But,

I find open sores on my tongue more disabling than joint pain, so I would

still use the Enbrel even if all it did was heal my mouth.

God Bless,

Harv in Michigan,

I got severe mouth ulcers from methotrexate even though I was taking large

doses of folic acid. It was interesting, the MTX stopped working on the

arthritis at the same time I got the mouth ulcers. I had to go off MTX, and

they have my chart marked " MTX Intolerance " .

I went on Enbrel in March 2003. I had had a long-standing problem with

large, painful sores on my tongue, sometimes making it almost impossible to

talk. After 2 weeks on Enbrel, my mouth completely healed and has stayed

healed as long as I don't eat popcorn.

I hope your doctor can put you on a medication that will cure your tongue

sores. I hate tongue sores more than I hate foot pain. I'd rather be able

to eat and talk than walk. Not that it's really either/or.

Good luck and let us know what happens,

Janet in SF

Lee and Janet ,

I want to thank you both for your concern and advice about the mouth

sores I've been suffering (a lot!) from. I've decided it has gotten way out of

hand and I'm going to stop my weekly injections of Methotrexate 25 mg.. It may

seem strange to some, but I am not looking forward to telling my

Rheumatologist my decision. I enjoy my monthly visit if that's possible. This is

just a

case of the treatment doing more harm than the disease. It sure will be nice to

eat something solid again. I'll let you all know if stopping the MX does

something horrible to my body. Yours, Harv I'm 48/ 24 years of ReA c**p

I don't know how many of you were members years ago when I first posted this

remedy for mouth lesions, but it worked well for me. I got mouth lesions so

fierce that not only would there be a lesion in my mouth but there would

also be a pimple on the outside on my skin opposite the lesion. Once I was

in the dentist's office when one of these critters was in residence( yeah it

was a great time to get my teeth cleaned!!!) He prescribed Kenalog in

Orabase. I was so thrilled to know that there was something for these

things. I would dry off the spot at night before bedtime and apply the stuff

with a Q tip. If I went right to bed without eating, drinking or brushing

after the application it would help tremendoulsy by morning. There were

times when it took several nights of this treatment to get rid of them this

way, but it greatly shortened the aggravation for me. It also worked for my

mother in law who asked her doc for a script.

in GA and sometimes MI
