Guest guest
a, Do you take just one mg of folic acid? My RD uped me to two mg a day, one in the am and one at night, because I was having painful mouth sores. The extra mg has made a difference. Matter of fact since I've been back on mtx since Apr last year I have my first mouth sore, and it hurts. Hope it goes away soon. Guest guest
a R. It's not really what I wanted to tell you either. Everyone is different, and some people adjust to it. I wanted it to work so badly that I endured it for much longer than I should have because I was told that I would adjust. Nothing really helped me, but please call your doctor and see what they suggest. Maybe he will increase your folic acid. It took many years for me to agree to try injections of mtx because of my reaction to oral. I'm really happy that I've had no side effects so far, but I'd be happier if it helps me. a ----- Original Message ----- From: a R Sent: Tuesday, April 17, 2001 3:26 PM Subject: [ ] Re: mtx reactions a, This is not what I wanted to hear:). I am taking 1mg of Folic every morning. I dont know if I could handle 3 months of being sick. But it sure makes you appreciate feeling good. I am definately going to ask my doctor. I dont go again until the 3rd of May. I may just call him this week. Are there any OTC meds that may help? a R. > a R, > When I was on the oral mtx, I was sick for 3 months with stomach aches and diarrhea. It never got better, and after 3 months of misery, I stopped taking it. This was many years ago, and I was never offered the injections. Last month I started mtx injections, and I have absolutely NO side effects. I'm only on 10mg a week, and will probably be increased tomorrow at my rheumy's appointment. Are you taking folic acid? Folic acid helps reduce the side effects. I'm on 1mg daily except for mtx day. > a > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: a R > @y... > Sent: Tuesday, April 17, 2001 1:39 PM > Subject: [ ] mtx reactions > > > Hi, > Last Friday I took my 3rd dose of MTX(7.5mg). Guest guest
a R., I had probs with nausea at first on mtrx. I found it better to take it in the morning. My RD suggested this. I have a great cousin who says she takes the pills one at a time an hour apart, on her DR's suggestion, and she says it has made a big difference. I have great weeks and once in a while I have a bad reaction. The positive results have far outweighed the side-effects.
