dear laura , i too have sogjrens syndrome. as well as ReA ,AS , and

autoimmune gastritis (boy is that a fun one) in spite of meticulous

dental hygiene i have lost all but 2 of my teeth at the ripe old age of

45. the most predominant feature of sogjrens is rampant dental caries .

its so humiliating for me to have to wear dentures . the last dentist i

saw talked to me like i was a retarded child . i got up out of the chair

and asked him if he knew anything about auto immune diseases , which he

did not ! i called him an ignorant %@$#* & ^% and walked out ! be glad you

have an educated dentist . the dry mouth is very unpleasant but it also

causes dry eyes , vaginal dryness and also contibutes to constipation

due to drying out the lining of the intestines . i havent found much

that helps the dry mouth but sugar free mints , i can no longer chew gum

due to the dentures . if anyone knows of any way to get some relief id

love to know , any info would be appreciated ...... cheers , nancy

.........ReA , AS , sogjrens , and autoimmune gastritis since 1973

I see ads for pills for Sogren's Syndrome. Salagel or something like that.

I have no idea if they actually work. Maybe worth a try.

A very likely cause of 's dry mouth and dental problems could be

Ditropan aka oxybutinin or certain other bladder drugs like Levsin that have

been linked in the literature and dry mounth is a known side effect for a

certain percentage of those that take the med.

Yes I do. I use Lacrilube at night for it. My opthalmologist said I can use

.... it's either Vasicon-A or Vasicon-D (or something close to that), but not

to use it too often. Only on days when your eyes are really, really dry.

Dave,

I don't take any bladder control drugs. They made me too sick, so I had to

quit them. I *am* going to go through all my meds to see if any of them

cause dry mouth, too, and if they do, I'm going to see about a different

medication, if possible.
