Guest guest
To Allision from the pineapple state, Welcome to the group. I have found this group to be very supportive and essential to me staying on the diet.
Guest guest
Welcome to the group . Yes many of us have stories of a similar nature for sure, so we can all understand how wonderful this feels. Annoying on occasion, i.e. when eating out, and others don't understand or are not willing to just serve you what you asked for...period!! My husband used to call me the pasta queen, and even with the first name of Toni, I am english born now living in Canada! But I found that I can still feed my desire for spaghetti sometimes. There are several great brown rice pastas available for those Italian dishes. I manage a Health & Wellness department for a large supermarket, and will check on Tuesday where our pastas are made. It would be funny if the majority are canadian made, when an above average number of the products originate in the US! Enjoy back-to-school everyone!! Guest guest
, Welcome and keep it up and you will only get better and that alone will keep you on the diet. Cheers, New Member, Hello Hi All: My name is and I am in Rhode Island. In any case, I have, well had, been suffering from IBS for 15 to 17 years. I am mow almost 35. The last two years it had gotten extremely bad and I was housebound some of the time. It was getting really intolerable. I was at the point where I was going to have to either go to a G-I for very strong medicine or face an operation. Instead I went to a naturopathic doctor in RI and she suggested I go on the ERFYT diet. I was a bit skeptical but I was also at my wit's end. And so I threw myself into it, hoping for results. The first two weeks I was a non-wheat eater, I felt a lot of my energy come back and a most of the IBS attacks depart. As I followed the diet, my energy was through the roof and I felt so good. I am Italian-American and had been eating pasta my entire life. I am not all that much of a bread person. But I still miss pasta. I am now in the process of trying to give up grains all together except for some occasional rice when I have sushi. I've been following the diet now for 3 months and am happy to report that *all* of my IBS troubles have disappeared. I no longer feel dead to the world when I wake up in the morning and my energy is through the roof. So, as you can imagine, I very grateful to my naturopth and to Dr. D'Adamo for his book. I've joined this group to keep my motivation up, as I am the only person I know personally on this diet. And also to gain new recipies and insight. Note: I still have to find out whether I am a secretor or non-secretor but I am O+ -- blood donation centers like me alot. I know that some of you to a great part of you have stories like mine. I've read the testimonials on the other group. So I look forward to taking part in this group and adopting and contributing some great recipies. Regards, in Rhode Island

So this artichoke pasta has no wheat or grains in it? Another pasta I use is rice pasta, which is neutral even for non-secretors. It comes in several different shapes too (angel hair, noodles, elbow, bowtie, etc.) Max

The quality is spotty, though, and the packages are mostly in chinese, Japanese, or Korean symbols. I get tasty mung bean pasta there too but it's more for specialty dishes. Guest guest
My two sons and I all like the 100% buckwheat soba noodles best. They don't stick together like the rice noodles. The flavor is milder then the whole spelt noodles. And they were less expensive then either the rice or spelt noodles. Guest guest
The artichoke pasta is an avoid - it has wheat in it. I'll post the name of the brand that makes pure rice pastas that taste out of his world on tuesday. Guest guest
I get the buckwheat noodles at an oriental grocery store in Huntsville, AL. I can't read the brand since it is in Japanese. They had lots of different noodles and I only found one that was 100% buckwheat. The buckwheat noodles were $1.99 and has 5 bundles of noodles in the package. I usually fix 2 bundles of noodles with a bottle of spahgetti sauce and some ground beef for my 2 sons and I. Don > I h ave not been able to find 100% buckwheat soba noodles. Guest guest
The best rice pasta I've found is Tinkyada. I've served it to people who thought they were eating regular wheat pasta and no one could tell the difference. nancy

Guest guest
Can you spell it both pinying and wade-giles conversion? PS: This is something to look for. RI is a bit of a wasteland sometimes, my whole foods store is really wonderful but only can do so much. >In a message dated 9/1/2003 7:51:16 AM Eastern Daylight Time, mazyn@... >writes: > > > Tinkyada > >How do you spell that in Chinese/Japanese characters?---LOL--just kidding. > > >

If you find them, and like them and will order more, ask your whole foods store to carry them. A lot of whole foods stores will special order stuff. Guest guest
Well, my Health Food Store is an hour away, there is no Asian food store, and the Super Wal-Mart an hour away is the only place besides the HFS that handles organic foods. An ice chest and a trip every 2 to 4 weeks takes care of everything I can't get here. This is small town cattle country in the SE corner of Oklahoma. I'm hoping to be seeing my son and his wife more frequently now that they live so much closer. They moved from Austin, TX to Plano, TX which is near the Dallas - Ft. Worth area. I can get organic longhorn beef there, and a whole lot cheaper than here, like about half the price. I'm looking forward to that change. Guest guest
Welcome, Amber! Your exercise log is a good idea! I may try that, though nowadays I've pretty much been going to the gym. Tonite will make 5 classes, or 4 hours, in 2 days! I need it. And it does help my mood; I'd be in therapy without exercise and my cats (I live alone with two as well :-) I'm sorry you have cramps and aren't feeling well. Perhaps yoga videos could help with that, or some stretching dvd's? Does upper body work give you cramps? goldmourn@... wrote: dear group,I've not posted yet because I haven't returned to my routine of exercising. At the moment, I am dealing with heavy cramps and getting over a cold. I suppose that should be all the more reason for me to exercise (I know that it can help!) but I feel like putting it off just a bit longer until I am feeling not so blah. It shouldn't be much longer before I will start exercising again and when I do, I'll post here about it.So far, I find many of you quite inspiring and it's nice to have found a place where others prefer to exercise with workout videos in the privacy of their own home. I find that videos that interchange aerobics with strength training can be quite effective.Does anyone else keep an exercise log on paper? I have been keeping one in a notebook for a long time now. It's a good way to keep track of which videos I do on what days and I even discovered which videos I prefer to 'start back up' again with as well.Oh, and I'm Amber, by the way. I'm 26 years old. I live alone with 2 cats. I take medication for hypothyroidism and for depression / anxiety. I need to exercise more.Hello!
