Guest guest
Hello Annette, You wrote> >Has anyone had particularly good luck with certain types of exercise in terms of pain control? I started doing pilates a month ago and I seem to feel a little bit better but I can't help but wonder if it is more wishful thinking than reality. What types of exercise do you do regularly?< I find that swimming is excellent for joint aches and muscular or fibromyalgia type pains..........And most doctors recommend swimming in a heated pool as it keeps the body warm and gives exercise without putting a lot of stress on the joints themselves. The water gives a lot of support, taking away the pressure. At the moment I just swim 20 or so lengths of the (25 metre) pool, but I guess that it's best to just make a start by doing what you can do, in the beginning. I sometimes ride my bicycle, and I also walk the dog quite a lot too........Nothing too strenuous, but I find that it all helps. However, a lot depends on how you feel in yourself, so I hope that this will help. Best regards! Mal.
Guest guest
Annette, About the only types of exercise I can do is if it is in the water. Since starting hydro therapy 5 months ago I have been able to get movement of my lower joints. My therapy stopped a couple of weeks ago and I feel the difference since stopping. I can still do upper body excercise in our hot tub but miss the room to walk and hang in the deep end. The hanging in the deep end sure helps to strighten out the back. With all the hot and humid weather we have here in the south and my asthma, it is impossible to get outside and do any type of walking, also it sure makes the joints hurt. I go to the Rhumy today and hope he will send me back. Dick
Guest guest
Hi Annette, I do water aerobics and also a deep water exercise class. With the deep water exercises, you wear a flotation device. It involves stretching and some endurance with no impact. I go to a near by fitness center that has a warm water pool. Kay
