Hi Jen

If I were you I would take the x-rays to a Radiologist. As an ex-nuclear

medicine technician I can say that I know more than a Chiro about reading

x-rays. Radiologist study for 7 years before the can be on their own. Chiro's

have very limited training in x-ray reading.

I say that because I was going to a Chiro and had x-rays done, he found nothing

of note he said. I saw the x-rays and there was clouding over the SI Joints a

clear sign of AS. I would not let him treat me further, 3 moths later another

set were taken and read by a Radiologist and he confirmed AS.

I do not hate Chiros, I even have a few of them as friends, but I would not ask

them for treatment. On a side note, one very good chiro friend told me if I

said to him I have AS he would not treat me with anything else but treatments

available in Physio Departments.

Hope that helps, Jen.

My chiro friend also asked if I would be interested in becomming a Chiro, he had

made some checks and told me that I could go on a full scholarship as long as I

worked in the schools x-ray department to train Chrios in taking X-rays and

reading them. I said thanks but no thanks.

Dave,

Hi, and thanks for your input! I really appreciate it. Luckily, my

chiro is a rare one, who went the extra mile to do radiology

training as well, so I trust his judgement completely.

I got to see my x-rays as well, and we went over them very

thoroughly, and he knew that we were potentially looking for a

spondy. He pointed out every area, my SI joints, sacral tuberosity,

coccyx, all of which were well defined with no clouding or

abnormalities. My joint spacing was good too. The only thing that

showed up was some really white areas on some parts of my L4 and L5

vertebrae, which he said was the arthritic changes and the start of

degeneration.

He did a lot of measurements and drawing all over my x-rays too,

which showed me just how out of balance my pelvic area is! The

distance between my sacral tuberosity and SI joints isn't equal, my

pelvis is tilted, and my L4 and L5 vertebrae go in different

directions, neither of which is the RIGHT direction!

I actually have a lot more faith in my chiro than I do

most " regular " doctors. He's a lot like me in some ways, where he'd

rather take the natural approach first. He's been very kind and

gentle with me since I was diagnosed with Fibro and tendonitis, but

also very supportive and helpful in keeping me able to move. We

both believe in the holistic approach to healing, and if there was

an integrative medicine doc in my area, I'd drop my traditional

allopathic medicine doc in a heartbeat. I hate being on all of this

medication, but really don't know an alternative.
