Guest guest
Typebase 3 on Dr. D's website shows Parmesan cheese as an avoid. That database is the place to check the status of any food. Guest guest
I wouldn't think so, just keep in mind how often we are supposed to eat any kind of cheese and keep it to the minimum. Guest guest
<<Is the parmesan cheese made from Sheeps Milk also an avoid? --- Wanda>> Funny, sheep's milk and sheep's milk cheese weren't listed anywhere in Typebase or in the Blood Type Encyclopedia. My memory is that sheep's milk products are neutral for secretors (with a very, very low per week frequency) and an avoid for non-secretors. Should you go by the status of similar type foods? For instance, I was looking up soy protein isolate, which came back w/no response, so I did plain soy. Anyway, maybe one of you old timers can give me some advice on this cereal I have. Here are the ingredients: Soy Protein Isolate, Cocoa powder, rice flour, nat flavors, malt, salt, acesulfame potassium, sucralose (splenda) Thanks in advance for any advice. I really wasn't asking about the food's 'value' only whether or not it's an avoid for our blood type. I worked for a flavor company for many years, so I'm well aware of why flavorings are added to foods. Not all chemicals are evil, as much as some people would have you believe that. I know there are some here that go the completely natural route (or try to anyway) using free range beef, organic veggies and the like but, I'm not one of them. I'm just trying to improve my diet with the commercially available foods that I have access to and some specialty products that fit in with my low carb lifestyle which is still my primary concern. The BTD is something I'm using as a supplement to my main dietary guidelines, which fortunately for me, mostly fit my blood type. I think it's great to have as much info as possible so we can each make our own decisions about what we choose to ingest. However, nothing in that article has convinced me to stop using it. There may be no long term studies that it is safe but, that does not automatically mean that it isn't. I find that I do not have any negative reactions to it (unlike Aspartame which I do react to), nor do any of the hundreds of people I know who use it. So, like anything else, YMMV (your mileage may vary). I plan to continue using it until something more concrete convinces me otherwise. Guest guest
Actually, that's pecorino romano, not parmesan. I couldn't find it in the encyclopedia, ER4YT, CR4YT, or the typebase. Pecorino is a ewes' milk cheese according to the website I visited. Is cheese made from sheep acceptable? Guest guest
I remember from way back when, sheep cheese being to only cheese O's could have. Don't remember the non-secreter part of it. First we could have goat cheese, but changed to sheep cheese only. Sorry, old age plays tricks on my brain, LOL, can't remember if Dr. D. mentioned this on his BB back then. I have been buying some monchego (from spain) when I get to the city HFS, but it's terribly expensive. Pecorino is more like parmesan, I use it with it. dishes sparingly. Guest guest
romano sometimes is made from sheeps milk, I think, if imported, but american romano is from good ol' cowjuice. We don't have any " better stores " around here where I live, so I end up buying from HFS when I get to the city.
Guest guest
Max, I get mine from Trader Joe's. It is not terribly expensive. It is grated and in containers like Parmesan, but does say Romano made from sheeps milk. (located wirh rest of fresh cheeses) I, too, remember from a long time ago, reading that the Sheeps cheese was okay for us. But of late noticed no mention of it and began to wonder if there had been a change. Hence, my query. Wanda
