Guest guest
Hi Ann, I was sorry to hear about your illness and surgery. Hang in there and continue the good work with the BTD. I feel it is our BEST defense in fighting this war. I, too, am battling cancer (a form of leukemia) Two years ago, my CLL became more aggressive, tho still not enough to begin chemo. Since oncologist said there was nothing to do until then, I did some research and began taking Astralgalus (tincture) and ARA daily, in addition to my regular multiple and antioxidents. This, along with the BTD (over 3 years now) has served me pretty well. My white count continues to drop slightly with each blood test. Ann, I would be interested in knowing what immune builders your naturopath recommended to you. Also, any info from any of our knowledgeable posters would be most welcome. I love this group! Good luck with your upcoming trip, and I pray that you continue to improve. ....Wanda
Guest guest
dear Wanda, It sounds like you are doing very well. There are many different anti-cancer supps and what is right for me may not be right for you. I have had extensive testing done through the naturopath and so my supps are based on the info gained from that. For example, I had a fatty acid analysis done and unlike most peole I have low cholesterol and a deficiency in Omega 6 and a surplus in Omega 3's just to mention one aspect. So my diet focuses on the fats that are indicated for me. Some things I might suggest would be Ara 6, vit C of course, making/keeping your body more alkaline, Co Q 10- these occur to me quickly as appearing in many books on the subject. Also ground flax, organic meats, as little cooked fat as possible, no burnt meat, exercise, sleep...etc etc as well as some fancy stuff that you would need to see a naturopath yourself to see if it was appropriate for you to take. I am just preparing for a trip but will try to e-mail you when I get back. Thanks for the good wishes. .. same to you. Ann Re: Hi, I'm back Hi Ann, I was sorry to hear about your illness and surgery. Guest guest
Hi Wanda, A quick note because I have a lot to do before I go away. Can you tell me about Astragalus for cancer. What research did you find? How much do you take? Thanks, Ann I did some research and began taking Astralgalus (tincture) and ARA daily, in addition to my regular multiple and antioxidents. Guest guest
Hi Ann, thanks for your prompt reply. I understand that treatments are individualized and appreciate your help. I am taking all the ones you did mention. As for the Astragalus I take about 40 drops twice a day. Put in my flaxseed smoothies or pineapple juice along with a tsp. of ARA-6 and powdered vit. C. I noticed that astragalus is in some of Dr. D.s products. I have not found a good Naturopath in my area, so my research was a lot of reading in Med. newsletters, websites and talks with HFS professionals. Combined all the info. and made the decision to start taking in hopes of keeping immune system strong. Received no help from MD -- but now, after several improved blood tests--his comment was-- " don't know what you are doing, but keep doing it. " I'm sorry I can't give you a specific website. I do a LOT of reading --which is one reason I love this list. So informative and starts us thinking. Have a good trip Ann ..... Guest guest
Really sorry to hear of your struggle. Have you done some research on the net? I know there is a load of information that may assist your situation and give better quality of life. Love, Jk Hi, I'm back Hi there! I have been away from the group for 6 months after having a battle with cancer - surgery in January but no radiation or chemo - however, I am taking lots of supps to support health and supps that are anti-cancer prescribed by my naturopath . Relatively good prognosis but I need to be smart in what I do...and would appreciate your support re staying focused on my goals and away from harmful substances like rum and diet coke and other junk that is so prevalent in our culture. I went to a pre-wedding party last night and then the wedding is today. How does one cope with a lot of non-O foods at social events? And alcohol was a big part of this particular culture - I felt that I had to have a little of at least wine or they would be offended. After dinner there was more alcohol that they really wanted us to try....from the homeland and they are very proud of it. Hubby did but I could not...have real reflux problems if I do. Wine and most " spirits " really churn up the stomach acid whereas rum and diet coke does less so...or perhaps I just tell myself that! However, I am really leery about aspartame now and want to avoid. There really is no good beverage for us, is there? Next week I will be traveling with a choir of teenage girls for a number of days and eating with host families a few times + a lot of fast food places. Wheat will be unavoidable but I hope that I can avoid milk because it really messes me up. Any suggestions re damage control in these situations? Guest guest
Thanks , Yes, I have done loads of research on the net and am doing well. For me at this point, I need to be aware of the stressors in my life and how I handle them. Exercise, rest, meditation, faith, relaxing and having fun are all very important ingredients for being well as well as a good diet. Have been following the O diet for several years now and just need to stay on course with it. Thanks for your support, Ann Hi, I'm back Hi there!
