I do better if I'm allowed to wake up with the sun and not by an

alarm clock. I am NOT a morning person - my body temp doesn't

rise until the sun comes up.

Green tea. has a tea on his website that's great too. Very relaxing.

I have never slept from 10 pm to 5/6 am. Even when I was a little kid. I

think some people are morning people and some are night people.

Actually I think that's the recommendation for Type As. At least

that's what I just read in LR.

Thanks Belinda,

I'll probably get there in another 20 years; 10 p.m. is about the time I come

out of my coffin. I do love to sleep, I just don't want to miss anything during

those late auspicious hours. I think that I can manage to let go of

consciousness closer to the midnight hour though; at my present 3 a.m. bedtime,

my body is starting to think it is nocturnal. Rhythm is certainly important...I

feel the truth of this. On the other hand, I love to fall asleep in strange

places in the mid-day sun...particularly outside on stones, on the ground or in

a large tree. Mostly I am house broken...more like an artistic Neanderthal type

who seers the meat to avoid suspicion but likes his vegetables cut just so

nicely.

Maybe I could use a little more sleep....

Thanks alot,

Hi Max,

I agree. I am never in bed before 12 or 1 and it doesn't matter what time I get

up. I am just more tired. I know I am a night person. As a friend of mine

once said, there is nothing that exciting in the morning to get up for, and I am

the same.

thank god I'm normal...well, at least not abnormal. I think I was born around

8:30 a.m. trauma and all; this could be why I try to sleep through this hour

each day...just a theory.

It's physical. I remember freaking out a nurse once. I was

going in for surgery and had to be at the hospital at 5:30 to

check in etc. I'd been up for an hour, maybe a little bit more,

when she went to take my temperature. She kept looking at the

thermometer and looking back at me. She finally told me that I

should be dead with the temp I was giving her. Some people's

(the night people) just have a lower sleep body temp, so until

the day is up enough to cue your body temp to come back up, you

still " sleep " .

I try to hit the sack by 10, doesn't mean I always fall asleep

right away, if only because I need 8 or more hours of sleep each

night. Weekends tend to be just a bit later though :)

Thanks again Maddviking,

What is 's site address again? I have purchased teas and supplements from

another place on-line (North American Pharmacal) but would like to order what I

can from . I do enjoy the green tea they sell and another line of teas

from my health food store (some Chinese blend of herbs). I guess Chai tea is

almost as bad as coffee? Yep...I won't even think about it. I often drink

Chrysanthemum and Astragalus tea in the evening...sometimes White tea and there

is this very nice blend for blood sugar balance that is just right...can't

remember what's in that. Think I'll have some tea now! Later...

Yes, it is so difficult to fall asleep while hitting sacks, but a little

exercise before retiring is always stimulating. I am jealous...well, envious.

Sweet dreams Belinda.

That makes sense...probably affects the blood pressure and other vital

statistics as well?

I think my body must be confused...

I use to be a baker long ago....would often fall asleep while driving...even

fell asleep while driving a motorcycle! The body was even more confused then.

I'm learning!

So THAT's my problem. Over stimulation before going to sleep.

I used to tell people (still do if I have to be in early) at work

that I couldn't be held to anything I agreed to before 9 am cuz I

was still asleep.

I figure that the original hunter/gatherers had to set shifts

during the night to watch for predators. And morning was

probably one of the safest times to sleep.

A's would rise with the sun to do their farm chores - it's hard

to tell the weeds or do other tasks in the dark. And

candles/other light sources were precious, so they didn't stay up

late. Probably why regular sleep patterns are important for

them.

Yes, this is an elegant theory...I like it. You are very clever for an " O " ; one

could almost mistake you for an " A " . I do long for the " good old days " when

hunting and gathering was less complicated! I'm sure it was less stressful to

take down a woolly mammoth then, than it is to feed teenagers today. Perhaps I

just need to sharpen up the spear and don my skins during meal

preparations...I'll give it a try.

Happy hunting..., O-nonnie

Indeed, I have conversations with customers in the early morning and have little

recollection of what I said. They are not amused....I should just let it ring.

I wonder how best to start the morning, in a dietary sense, to jump start the

system. What I intuit from many members is that protein is preferable as the

first meal, compared to fruit or grains? I must agree that I favor a couple of

eggs with some sauteed vegetables and/or meat leftovers from the night before

(if any are left) to the smoothy approach...grains are out of the question for

me. Now that I have quit coffee (again!), I seem to be waking up a little

quicker...doesn't make sense me thinks, but I guess my adrenals have been wacked

out and are finally getting some respite. Lots of water in the morning also

seems mandatory...my body is lustful for H20 for the 1st half hour after

waking...must be the snoring.

Well, enough philosophy for me....I've got a woolly mammoth to find.

When I was in college, I always tried to get my math classes at 10 am. I

felt that that was my most " awake and alert " time.

Back when I was poisoning myself, I would stay up late at night, get up a 5

am, eat some kind of grain on the run, and drink cups of coffee to stay awake.

Now I get up and eat PROTEIN, no coffee, and feel great.

I have never seen the sunrise unless I haven't gone to bed the night before. I

never thought of watching it on TV.

If I have to go into the office early, I like leaving the lights

off. Unfortunately I've got an A office partner who turns them

on when she comes in. <sigh>
