Guest guest
, Today I called the American Pain Society (APS) in Glenview, Illinois. I asked them what the best way to find a doctor who knows how to treat pain effectively was. They have a listing of pain centers at their web site, but they don't list individual doctors and they don't refer people to individual physicians (I also noticed, by the way, that the MGH Pain Center didn't make their multidisciplinary cut at their site). APS referred me to the American Pain Foundation (APF) and the American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM). They said to try their web sites. AAPM has a link to the American Board of Pain Medicine (ABPM). The ABPM has a listing by state of all physicians who are certified through them to treat pain: http://www.abpm.org/diplomats.htm Here is the American Pain Foundation's listing of members: http://www.painmed.org/membership/pdf/member00.pdf Even though this is an alphabetical listing in a .pdf file, you can do a find (use the binoculars tool) and search on " MA " or " Rheumatology " or whatever you want. I'm still thinking about all of this, . Wish I could do more. Would you ever consider going to s Hopkins or Mayo and let one of their multidisciplinary teams figure out how to treat your pain? Maybe they could even come up with a better solution to your abdominal problems. Your situation is very complex and I'm still wondering why none of your physicians will take the responsibility to treat your pain.
