Guest guest
Aspartame is an AVOID for all blood types. But of course like everything else - we make our own decision concerning it. blessings, kathy s **email me privately for more info to order Dr D's (NAP) products kksmith@... > I went to the link which you so graciously provided, , and found that this woman's research finds nothing wrong with aspartame! Is this the statement you are referring to? " Aspartame (Nutrasweet) is a sugar substitute that contains phenylalanine. It has no harmful effect on bones. " Note that she did not say there is no harmful effect, just no harmful effect ON BONES. Two very different statements. There does seem to be a difference of opinion on aspartame. The current recommendation from the Center for Science in the Public Interest is, " If you consume more than a couple of servings per day, consider cutting back. And, to be on the safe side , don't give aspartame to infants. " On the other hand, the National Cancer Institute, the Mayo Clinic, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the National MS Society, and Tufts University all proclaim aspartame safe. As for myself, I have never been one to partake of diet drinks or artificial sweeteners. I think the jury is still out on this one.
Guest guest
I have to say that aspartame is one of the most dangerous products around. I have much info on it if someone wants it - but I think much has been posted here in the past. I will if you want it though. aspartame? Two different reasons have been given: 1) phosphorus binds to the calcium in your stomach and prevents absorption of the calcium into your blood, and 2) high phosphorus in your blood draws calcium out of your bones. When I searched recent medical articles and textbooks (for hours!), I could find nothing supporting this. ~Rebekah Wang-Cheng, MD http://www.applesforhealth.com/HealthyEating/nocalsoft3.html Researchers say that drinking carbonated beverages does not result in bone loss but they suggest that the growing displacement of milk by soft drinks in the American diet is harmful to bones and health in general. Published in the August issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, the study evaluated four types of beverages, two non-cola-type beverages, one caffeinated and one not, and two cola-type beverages, one caffeinated and one not. The researchers used milk and water as control beverages. Measurable calcium loss appeared in the urine of subjects following the use of caffeinated beverages. {snip} The non-caffeinated beverages had no effect on calcium. Guest guest
Aspartame is an interesting "sugar" subsititute. Most will tell you to limit it, I know they have warned us with diabetes to watch it. I have heard many people get headaches from it and maybe some aggressiveness in kids - but the the aggressiveness in the kids is not from the aspartame but from the die that they put in it to make the "grape" or "punch" color. If Devin is having agression issues I would look more at the dyes than the actual aspartame - I know you give in moderation but maybe water it down even more. Look to see if it has red dyes or blue dyes in it. knows more about dyes than I do, has never been affected by dyes to my knowledge. Good Luck Lesley - it just might be time for Devin to grow and with growing everything gets out of whack and whammo you have a behavior issue. Guest guest
my dan! dr said it is a no-no. there are a lot of "sugar free" things and they use aspartame, sucrose, fructose, and others that are made from sugar but not the whole sugar so they can say sugar free. Cane sugar and fresh cold pressed local honey are the only sugars I allow my daughter. From: Lesley Hicks <lesley_hcks@...>Subject: Aspartame?autism Date: Friday, July 23, 2010, 8:47 AM Hello Group Do any of you know if Aspartame is bad for our kids? Guest guest
There are tons of studies why aspartame is horrible for humans. Some people even beleive that gulf war syndrome is from aspartame poisoning (many thousands of cases of pop sat in the heat, then soldiers got to drink them) Not saying I know it to be true, but if there is enough negative talk out there, it's safer to just listen to it, til proven otherwise. It's a chemical, and in my opinionn, our kids need natural foods only, the more unnatural they get them more gunked up their systems are.. and i totally agree about the dyes... different children react in different ways, from mild to severe reactions. stay away from it all, is my motto.
