Guest guest
Just a warning. There are a few new computer viruses out that are very tricky and moving quickly. None have went through this list! These viruses can spoof the from email address so it looks like it came from someone you know. They can take them from your address book or gather them from websites. I have received several emails that peoples (not members) anti-virus software has rejected because of a virus infection. They were sent back to RISG.ORG because they had the addresses that are listed on our web site. Mostly faq@.... These addresses are one way address used by our auto responder to send out our frequently asked questions to people who request it. RISG never uses them to email out for any other reason. Most of them have a subject line of " Status " " test " " hi " They have been from " Jim " or " " The say there are about three new viruses every day. The best defense from new viruses is a good anti virus program. Two of the most popular ones are Norton's at http://www.symantec.com/ McAfee at http://us.mcafee.com/default.asp If you can't afford one of the others there is a free on available at http://www.free-av.com/ It like the others has weekly virus definition updates also free of charge. I here it's pretty good and I know its better then nothing! Rick Hahn rick@... http://www.risg.org
Guest guest
Susie was kind enough to send me a link to another free virus program. It's at www.grisoft.com, and you will have to scroll down to find it. There is also a web page that can scan your computer for free. It says: You don't need to install any programs, just connect to the Internet and simply click whenever you want to clean your computer. It scans, disinfects and eliminates viruses from all parts of your system, hard disks, compressed files and all your e-mail. It incorporates a powerful heuristic system capable of detecting new or unknown viruses. It is updated at least once a day, so each scan will be able to detect even the latest viruses. I've never used it but I heard of it a lot on different tech shows. If you have a anti-virus program already running on your computer be sure to disable it before running the scan. http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm Rick Hahn rick@... http://www.risg.org
