She gave birth at home also. She lived to be 96 and was only in a hospital once in her life. Had 4 children at home. It seems that her mother and other's in her family also had children late in life with no problems. I know this is anecdotal and not statistical. Sharon (Ontario) Canada P.S. As well as having no genetic problems, I was also the smartest child in our family. LOL Just Kidding
Guest guest
Actually Sharon, Statistics also show that the later you have your children, the smarter they are! Guest guest
CB.....yup, you have to take into account women are born with their eggs, so if you are 44, then so are your eggs. OUCH ! I have known many women who wait until they are in the mid and late 30's or older to have children. They all had healthy children. My husband's grandmother had 13 kids.....the last one was born when she was 56. LOL Surprise ! Dawn --- " C.B. Guest guest
I think I missed the beginning of this discussion. But I know TONS of women who had kids after 35 and all of their kids are fine. I also used to work with mentally challenged kids. ALL of them had mothers who gave birth to them when they were UNDER 35. best wishes, karenb RE: pregnancy and age > Dawn wrote: > > " Simple statics tell us that childbearing after 35 your > chances of increased birth defect go WAY UP. But I had my son (my first and last) when I was 35 and he is really smart. When he was about 10, I told him that he inherited his brains from his mother, and he quickly said, " You never told me I was adopted! " He is also a smart alec. She told me it ran in the family to have a baby late in life. Luckily I avoided that tendency. Sharon (Ontario) Ontario

Hi Dawn, My mother was pregnant at my brother's wedding in Aug. and I was born in Nov. My older sister had a daughter who was 6 months younger than I was. All of my nieces are in my age group, and I think that I am the healthiest of all of them. My mom said that she didn't gain much weight and that her friends didn't even know she was pregnant until the end. She also claimed that I was the best thing that happened to her because I kept her young. She was 96-1/2 when she died and was really only sick the last 6 months of her life, so maybe it did work. I don't know her blood type, but I think that she must have been an O. She ate everything but always believed in everything in moderation. She wasn't excessive about anything. From the time she was around 75 her doctor gave her a coated aspirin a day and also niacin. Back then I didn't realize what the niacin was for, but now I know it was to lower cholesterol probably. Other than that she didn't take drugs, except for diaretics later in life for high blood pressure. Regards, Sharon (Ontario )Canada
Guest guest
Sharon, Yup, my husband's aunt is only 3 months older than him. His mother told me, " can you imagine being pregnant and YOUR mother being pg at the same time? " My husband said his aunt caused no undue amount of discussion among his girlfriends while he was in HS. *hahaha* Dawn --- SFerris769@... wrote: > In a message dated 2/7/02 7:15:58 AM Eastern > Standard Time, > shamrockgreen7@... writes: > > > > the last one was > > born when she was 56.
