Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I am a bit nervous about this cholesterol issue after reading Merrill's post. I STILL have a hard time believing that eating red meat is healthy after so many years of believing it is evil. My husband and I plan on checking our cholesterol sometime in January. I also plan on eating more game meat and fish. I just wish I could know for sure! This diet is extreme. I wish it were more balanced--it would feel safer to me. Someone had asked about the Foreman grill. Actually, my husband and I just received it as a Christmas gift! I've used it twice a day for the past 3 days since receiving it! I live in the Seattle area, so grilling out in the rain was getting old. So far, so good. Lamb burgers and salmon turned out well. Still tinkering with steak (cooking it too much--not sure if it will cook to medium). I also grilled sweet potatoes on it last night-yum! Fat does drip out, but I can't imagine that it would really make a difference? My opinion on the Arby's is to have it as a treat every once in a while. It is not organic, and I really think the benefits of getting the red meat do not outweigh the danger of growth hormones, bacteria, antibiotics, etc. Scary stuff. On the other hand, I read in " Fast Food Nation " that other than organic, fast food meat is the safest you can eat because of their high standards--I can't believe I'm saying that fast food restaurants have high standards. I only mean that it should be bacteria free because they are super careful due to all of the problems they have had with e-coli contamination, etc. If you read that book, you'll never want to eat non-organic meat again! I also will never give a cent to a fast food company after reading that book. Peace,
