I've seen that book many times as I pass by a local store (full of Hubbard rubbish!). Someone once left a pile of pamphlets about detoxification and what the heavy-handed use of pharmaceuticals is doing to the American people at the register in the pharmacy I work in (!), my boss found them and got really mad, telling the cashiers not to allow that kind of stuff to be left out in the open... need management's approval for that you know! I luckily wasn't there when it was left on the counter... I could very well have been blamed for it... given my feelings on the subject. What you have described about brain function from detoxification hits home with me, Mrs. Kalab. I experienced a vast improvement in mental faculties as a result of the cleansing and detoxification diet (albiet vegetarian) I first underwent in late '99. Maybe I'll take a look at it.... Hey Bonny, I've been meaning to ask you if you can contribute anything to the wide world of detoxification? Please, share with us (or me at least). Bonny: The world of detoxing....hmmmm - brain cells clattering, warning : overloadoverload.... Back in the old days when I was a vegetarian I used to fast alot...juices/vege juice fasts and lots of herbs. I felt better not eating so I was always fasting. Not good for an O...very not good. I had a hard time switching to a carnivorous lifestyle but once I got my mind wrapped around it and realized how much better I felt I decided to totally give in to my " animal nature " (grrrr) and see what kind of detoxing my body would choose. So.... In the winter I don't do much...I think all of life is in a resting state and I don't feel I accomplish much if I try to detox...even our food seems weaker this time of year. Once a week, or once every two weeks,if I'm feeling sluggish I skip supper and have a homeade 'green drink'. That's about it except to drink lots of water, eat a few berries when I'm craving sweets, and try and avoid avoids. But in the summer or hot months its different. I have my own garden so regularily nibble on greens, herbs, what have you. My green drinks come from my garden as do 99% of my veges. On days where I feel the need to detox I will " forage " and work my way up and down my rows of greens nibbling while I weed. (I do this once or twice a week). I grow my own blueberries so there are days where I want berries rather than greens. On these type of days I either cut back on my meat if that's what I feel like or cut it out all together (although often what happens is it's on the detox days that I especially enjoy a serving of heart cooked with fresh herbs. Heart...drool...thumpthump, thumpthump...) The day after one of these rituals I feel great and meat tastes terrific again. That's it - nothing fancy. Early each spring I sit and stare at my garden space until I get a feel for what veges/herbs I need or want to eat and then I plant them. I grow mostly O-ns beneficials now so my foraging is a 100% pleasure whereas before I would sometimes leave the garden thinking: argh, why is it I do this??
