I did respond. Here it is again.

When in doubt, reread page 57 in ER4YT. Os strive on protein. As far as

serving sizes:

Meat/Poultry: up to 5 oz 6 to 9 times per week, non secretors 7 to 12

times per week.

Rh- increase by 1 to 2 servings.

Fish: 3 to 5 serving per week.

Rh- increase by 2 servings.

Eggs: up to 6 eggs a week.

So what does all this mean? THESE ARE GENERAL GUIDELINES per .

Remember that the books were not written for you or me personally but

for the masses. The recommendations are great starting points however

..But we are all very different with different needs. I'd bet a lot of

someone else' $$$ that if you were to see your servings would

differ slightly from the ones in the book.

As far as the 1 gr per lbs - it originated in the bodybuilding community

(not by bodybuilders, but by MDs/PhDs who specialize in sport

nutrition). At 140 lbs you do have the need for a minimum amount of

calories to maintain. A wild guess would be 1200 to 1400 calories daily.

If you consume 77gr of pure protein a day, that gives you little over

300 calories a day. With fat (in nature protein always comes with fat)

lets say 500 calories.

Even if you were to eat enough greens you will be way behind of what

your body will need. So that leaves you with carbs - and most people eat

way too many carbs. If we didn't we wouldn't feel ashamed when looking

in the mirror naked. People are getting fatter and fatter anywhere you

look. And not because they are overeating protein.

If you are an athlete then you fall into a totally different category

also.

Hi yawl,

I have a dilemma...actually many but I'll only trouble you about 1 of

them...

I have been trying to incorporate several suggestions from this site and Dr. D's

books and like Coryn, cannot seem to make the puzzle parts fit in my ideal menu

scenario. The biggest square peg that doesn't fit the nice round hole I have

created for it, goes by the name of fat. Out of the 2,500 calories I consume in

a day, over 1,000 calories (118 grams) are typically from fat!; 627 calories

(157 grams) from protein; and 620 calories (193 grams) are from carbohydrates.

The sources of fat of which I typically partake in a day include: 1 tblsp. of

ghee, 1/2 tblsp. of olive oil, lean beef, carrots, 1 egg, squash, lean elk

jerky, sardines in olive oil, elk sausage, banana, almonds, pecans, walnuts, and

almond butter on a rice cake....all good sources of fat, but is this too much?

The percentage of fat to protein to carbs certainly does not adhere to the

recommended ratios I saw here earlier...what was it, 40-30-30 (I can't recall)?

What'll I do? What'll I say? What'll I not eat?

I am presently 45 years old (mortality seems to be a problem), 6' and 190

lbs....I guess it wouldn't hurt if I lost a few pounds but I am not much

overweight (petite love handles) still....health is the main issue of course and

continual improvement with what I have to work with...(I am a

non-secretor...wahhh). Exercise? What's that? Just kidding...some days I get

lotssssss and some days is not so much. I do work out 3 days a week at a gym but

my work is often more difficult than a workout...

Well, these are the clues for today's mystery dilemma...if you can solve the

puzzle in 50 words or less, I will speak to the Gods on your behalf...and I will

greatly appreciate it! Thank you ? or Tom?...is anybody out there?

Do you have a message block on your e-mail? That is the easiest way to stop

it. That is if it isn't already too full.

Your #s are off. You eat 155 gr of carbs not 193. In the bodybuilding

community you go like this: for fat loss, 8 x your body weight. To

maintain weight 10 x. to gain: 15 x to 20 x.

So yes, you are consuming too many calories overall.

Ratio: slightly more protein then carbs in general but if you want to

burn fat, than that ration is outta window.

118 gr of fat would equal to 10 tablespoon of oil. Are you sure that you

consume that much? I mean carrots? Banana as a source of fat?

40/30/30 is for Bs
