(I asked the original question.) A little research on my part indicates that the picolinate version can actually lead to DNA mutations and possibly cancer. Scary stuff. The best product - according to one researcher - is Natrol's ChroMate. I haven't had a chance to get to the HFS to determine if it's trivalent, though. Guest guest
That is funny - I have seen more people being allergic to Natrol products than all others combined. m2c RE: Chromium Picholinate Tina wrote: > On the site, http://Curezone.com/ER4YT/ it says that > Chromium Picholinate is an AVOID for us O's. Guest guest
from: http://www.anndeweesallen.com/dal_ra01.htm An alarming study conducted by Dr. at the University of Alabama shows that chromium picolinate reacts with antioxidants in the cells to produce in " reduced " form of chromium capable of causing mutations in DNA, our human genetic material. Based on this new research, the University of California at Berkeley warns that: " Nobody should take chromium picolinate, especially not young people. " {snip} " Chromium picolinate was found to cause significant chromosome damage at a non-toxic dose. " {snip} Consumers are urged to switch to a nontoxic form of chromium, such as niacin-bound chromium, also known as chromium polynicotinate. Niacin-bound chromium is the safest and most bioavailable form of chromium. Most health food stores carry niacin-bound chromium polynicotinate Two of the best-known brand name products are: Solgar Chromium Polynicotinate * 200 mcg chromium (polynicotinate) per capsule Natrol ChromeMate * 200 mcg chromium (polynicotinate) per capsule 10 mg vitamin B-6 The Natrol Chromate contains added B-6 plus 50 mg of L-arginine and 50 mg L-lysine. L-Arginine and L-Lysine are direct antagonists of each other, meaning that at higher doses (over 2 grams/2000 mg) they should not be taken together. In doses of 50 mg, as found in the Natrol product, the negating effects of the two amino acids should not be significant.
Guest guest
...what would you suggest instead of Chromium Picholinate? Thanks...Tina >From: " Dekany " <info@...> >Reply- >< > >Subject: RE: Chromium Picholinate >Date: Thu, 29 Nov 2001 22:34:29 -0500 > >That is funny - I have seen more people being allergic to Natrol products >than all others combined. m2c > RE: Chromium Picholinate > > > Tina wrote: > > > On the site, http://Curezone.com/ER4YT/ it says that > > Chromium Picholinate is an AVOID for us O's. Guest guest
What were you getting it for? Use solgar's Polynicotinate. Guest guest
My son's allergist put him on it a few months ago along with acidophilus and GABA Plus. He was 'diagnosed' with ADHD and putting him in meds was NOT an option. He is on the Feingold diet...no perservatives, artificial colors and flavors...doing well on that, about a year now. I wanted better results so I took him to a leading allergist in Baltimore and did lots of test. He's not really allergic to foods, but has a high sensitivity to everthing from beef, chicken to wheat sugar chocolate. He takes 3 drops of an stabalizer under his tounge every morning so he can still eat in moderation these items. It's called Immunotherapy, has definately helped...but for the last few months I have been on ER4YT...along with my whole family for the most part...all O+...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you... Tina >From: " Dekany " <info@...> >Reply- >< > >Subject: RE: Chromium Picholinate >Date: Thu, 29 Nov 2001 22:45:33 -0500 > >What were you getting it for? Guest guest
, I forgot to answer your question. My 7yo son is also hyopglycemic and Chromium Picholinate is suppose to help when he doesn't eat every few hours. Picolinate seems to be a widely marketed version. You might check with your doctor to see if chromium is acceptable. I'm not usually an alarmist, but the research on picolinate scared me enough to shy away from it.
Guest guest
Dear Tina - As I always try to preach to work on the cause instead of the symptom, my suggestion is to feed him something every couple of hours instead of using a supplement. Beef/turkey/salmon/tuna jerky comes to mind. Tasty and full of much needed protein. So called allergies (intolerances) can be eliminated by increasing ones sodium level (and potassium too). Hope this helps. love RE: Chromium Picholinate > > > > > > Tina wrote: > > > > > On the site, http://Curezone.com/ER4YT/ it says that > > > Chromium Picholinate is an AVOID for us O's.
