Oh don't worry - I haven't drawn any conclusion eyt! What I really

meant was that any changes always happen very slowly so I won't

really expect anything for ages! I am on a good multivit yes,

though I'll check the B compex component. Also loads of Vit C for

this time of year.

Thanks for the tips, I'll look into them.

Cheers,

Debbie

The Live Right for Your Type book lists HB, neutral and avoids by

secretor status. You can also access the online food database for

a quick look up of specific items.

My first thought is that you have only been on the program for a week

or so. There is a transition period when you first start following

the diet where your body detoxifies. There is no set time for the

detox as it depends on what you were eating before and what you are

eating now. I would suggest staying with HB foods in the proper

proportions for at least a month before drawing any conclusions.

My detox was primarily mucus oriented in my sinus cavities - also flu

like symptoms. Low body indicates to me low thyroid production,

common among us Os. Eating HB beef, salt water fish, spinach,

broccoli and kale aid in boosting thyroid production. I am low

thyroid, low body temp, too. This is why I eat these particular items

in such abundance. You may also check with your health practitioner

regarding " bladderwrack " . This is a good supplement to aid in

boosting thyroid production.

Are you taking a good multi-vitamin, too? Specifically, B complex; B

vitamins promote a balanced stress response for Os. I can tell when

I've been without mine for a couple of days!

Take care,

Hi Debbie,

Welcome to the list. There are a lot of us on this list and we

welcome being able to answer any questions you may have about the diet.

Don't hesitate to ask. There are no foolish questions on this list. We all

started new at one time.

The lists for secretors and non-secretors are in the latest book by Dr D

called Live Right. That book has the latest information. I'm sure it is

easiest to get used to the ER way of eating with the Cook Right or Eat

Right books. Once you are more sure of the beneficials, neutrals and avoids

there, I think you will find it interesting to pick up the Live Right book

and have the secretor test done. That's the way to find out if you are a

secretor or non-secretor.I'm not saying you shouldn't get the Live Right

Book. It's just more technical, and you'll find it less confusing getting

used to knowing what foods to eat. If you decide to go ahead and find out

right away what your secretor status is, Then I would pick up the Live Right

Book when you get the results. You can go to the ASK A QUESTION section and

find the posting where you can have the test done fairly close by in the UK.

Your body will adjust more easily to this new pattern of eating if you

are dropping the avoids from your diet one, two, or a few at a time. Also,

be careful to have neutrals along with the benificials. If you try eating

only beneficials, your body will be trying to dump all that was stored of

those avoids at once, and you'll have more trouble with detox, at the best

it will leave you with yuckie feeling.

The glutamine will help with the transition of cutting down on the carbs,

and after a

while you will get to where you'll go into the grocery store and not even

think about those avoids you aren't eating any more.

The Cook Right book has lots of recipes. If you are interested in more

we have a group called the Cook Right list. If you haven't already joined,

you might like to. We all exchange recipes there, and the lady who is the

list mom has lots of recipes set up for all the blood types in a file on

that list.

I hope this helps.

Where does this advice come from? Personal experience? Or is it in

the book? I went cold turkey on avoids, one day, HB only and didn't

have much of a problem with detox. Just trying to understand this

advice.

Dear ,

It came from Dr. D in the ER book as well as from other people online when I

first joined.

Thanks, . I'll have to re-visit that section. I was already so

miserable, I figured it couldn't get any worse. Three days on HB

foods and I was feeling 200% better.

Welcome Debbie,

You will get plenty of advice around here.

I have had very good results with people following the

O diet, doing treatment for yeast and taking extra

Magnesium.

For Yeast --- Grapefruit Seed extract and Acidophilus

does good.

You should check your Calcium/Mag/Zinc, it may not be

the best for you. Check the source of the Cal. If it

is Calcium carbonate you might consider changing

brands. It could be interfering with your digestive

juices. Also you probably need more Magnesium than

Calcium.

Low-grade temp? Do you mean low-grade fever or

low-body temp?

I meant low-grade fever, though actually I fluctuate between around

97 & 99.9. I never go over 100 but get very close! Basically my

temp is almost never normal, though when it is I feel really well.

This is a normal symptom of CFS, thought my range has increased over

the last year or so. It also includes night sweats, swollen neck

glands, etc.

At my last blood tests my calcium levels (among other things) were

low, so my naturopath put me on the cal/mag/zinc (Solgar brand).

What form do you think is better?

Thanks,

Debbie

Ho Debbie!

Calcium - the key is not how much you take, but how much actually gets into

the cells. Having calcium floating around your bloodstream is asking for

Arthritis.

Which product is it?
