Guest guest
-----Original Message----- From: tracietc@... [mailto:tracietc@...] Is anyone else on this list fighting candida? ------------------ Yes, I take GSE (Grapefruit Seed Extract) sometimes (mixed in juice), and sometimes I take black walnut hull powder (in capsules). Mostly, I take something when I start to feel brain foggy and/or aches and pains. Are you taking any of those? I've noticed that some of the candida symptoms are similar to CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) and also somewhat to ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder). Has anyone else noticed that? & , Mississippi Gulf Coast, USA
Guest guest
Hi , I have GSE, but I've only taken it once. It was so horrible, I just haven't been able to make myself drink it again. It tasted like something that belongs in the engine of a car, not in my mouth! LOL I do have some capsules that have black walnut hull, I'll get the bottle and see what exactly they have in them. Oh, that's what they are, lol, Black Walnut Hull 500mg. per capsule. My Dr. suggested I take 3 per day. Does that sound right to you? I have noticed that I get really tired and it comes on really fast, but I don't know what the symptoms for CFS are, I just attributed it to lack of sleep. I have noticed that I also have trouble keeping thoughts in my head. I can be on the phone telling someone something and one of my kids will interrupt and then whatever I was saying is just gone, vanished without a trace! I didn't used to be like this at all. Even to get my housework done, I have to make a list of what needs done or I won't get the important stuff done. Tracie (Ohio)

Does that sound right to you? ----------------------------- Someone described GSE as the taste you love to hate. I have gotten to the point that I know what they mean! I take mine with 2 packages of Emergen-C (by Alacer) in about 6 oz juice. It is bitter, but it is not bad mixed that way! I almost like it because I know it will make me feel better! I have been known to take about 9 black walnut hull 500mg capsules in a day, but I am self-medicated. I found out by trial and error that it would make me feel better. I am curious why your doctor told you to take it; what exactly is it supposed to do? (I am glad this came up because I think I need to take some now! I'll try just taking 3 and see what happens!) I've noticed that when the weather gets real wet around here, such as now when it rains in buckets, I start noticing symptoms. I started taking GSE last week, now I will add the black walnut. Did your doctor mention what happens if you kill the candida too fast? It can give you cold symptoms and make you feel like you have the flu for a few days. I've done it enough times to know that it really does happen! If you are tempted to increase the dosages your doctor gave you, don't! Your doctor probably wants you to do this slowly so you don't get sick. Good luck! & , Mississippi Gulf Coast, USA
Guest guest
Ok, maybe I'll try the GSE again. It won't be an easy thing to do, but I'm desparate! I hope the juice covers the kerosene taste! lol The Dr. I go to is an M.D. and a Naturpath(sp?). She recommended this diet and the following supplements: Black Walnut Hull --- 3 times a day Nettle --- 2 times a day Clove (?) --- 2 times a day And all the Type O supplements (herbs, vitamins & probiotics) 2 times a day I also take Flax Oil capsules (WHEN I take anything) See why I gag?! The bottle of Black Walnut says: Black Walnut is an important cleansing herb used by herbalist and Europeans for centuries. I trust this Dr. because she's the first one that has acknowledged that I do have a yeast overgrowth and it's systemic. I am disappointed that I'm not feeling better, but I haven't been taking the supplements as recommended. My previous " Doctors " always wanted to give me a prescription to cover my symptoms and send me on my way. When I asked my last " Dr. " to help me find the underlying cause instead of giving me " bandaids " ...he said something like " some women just get more YI and they just learn to live with them " !!!!!???? I am miserable right now with one of the worst yeast inf. I've ever had. I have heard about die-off causing cold/flu symptoms, but I don't think I've ever experienced it. At this point, die-off symptoms would be welcome! I think today I'll try the GSE and get ALL my supplements in...and I may increase the Black Walnut, maybe to 5 a day. What's bad is, I can be miserable with this YI, and STILL forget to take the supplements. Then at bedtime I remember and I don't want to drink a quart of water to get them down at bedtime. If I write this on my TO DO list, maybe I'll remember. I really don't see the point of returning to see the Dr. on the 20th if I am just going to go in there and tell her I haven't been doing everything she said. Thanks ! Guest guest
Hi Tracie, You didn't say what kind of pot luck dish you are planning to take. Entree? Vegetable? Salad? Puu Puu platter (Hawaiian word for finger foods) What??? As for the yeast problem, the grapefruit seed extract in pill form is what I take along with the walnut hull. This should take care of the problem, but you have to be consistent with taking them for about 2 months daily. I take 125 mg of GSE twice a day and only once a day for the walnut one. Good luck. aloha CB Hello everyone! Next Friday we are going to a b-day party/potluck dinner. My friends are following the diet also, and I'd like to make something that will be a big hit. I'd prefer not to make anything sweet since I am battling chronic candida. Any ideas would be very much appreciated, I would just like to know that it's a recipe that's been tried out. Is anyone else on this list fighting candida? I have been having yeast problems for several years. My current Dr. is the first Dr. to acknowledge that I do have a problem with yeast and basically the only thing she's had me do is follow this diet and take supplements. Most of the time I don't take the supplements because they're huge and make me choke. I am due to go back to see her on the 20th of this month, and I guess I'm going to combine the anti-yeast diet with the ER4YT diet between now and then...and I'm going to TRY to take the supplements that she told me to take. It seems like this diet was working at first, but now it's absolutely not helping AT ALL! Thanks!! Tracie C. You are receiving this email because you elected to subscribe to the mailing list. Things I did: Cut out all grains and all dairy, even allowed ones Cut out all refined sugars. Natural sugars in foods did not bother me. Stick to veggies, fruits, and meats. Drink a gallon of water a day. After yeast had been gone 3 mo, started to add back acceptable grains and dairy slowly to see what I could tolerate. Kept up with water. Also added a cleansing agent (like Psyllium powder or something similar--there are a lot of good cleansing teas and supplements by Enrich out there--no I'm not selling, just giving experience) to my water once a day. Haven't had yeast in over 3 years. HTH, Tabitha As to the recipes, I have a collection of 600. Let me know what type of dish you are interested in (meat, salad, etc) and I'll see what I can find. The black walnut and cloves are also supposed to kill parasites. I read one time, several years ago, that candida might be mutating into a one-celled animal rather than a plant form. It has been awhile so I don't exactly recall it. Has anyone else ever heard this? & , Mississippi Gulf Coast, USA
Guest guest
Tabitha, I really appreciate reading the things you did to get better! I haven't been very aggressive with my diet or the supplements. I started the diet in May or June I think. I was pretty good for a while. I even remember for my daughter's b-day in June, I made a wheat free cake for me (and my type O friend ate some with me). Then on July 4th, I was weak and ate whatever I wanted. I had a hard time getting back on track after that. I got back on track but just for 2-3 weeks, then we went to the county fair and I ate ALL the bad stuff I could get my hands on! Cotton Candy, Ice cream, onion rings, brats, carmel apples, etc. My b-day was Aug. 14, and I've been following ER 99.5%(?) since then. The only things that I eat that I haven't found acceptable alternatives are: Mayo & Mustard. I also eat butter fairly often, but never much at a time. I've been watching my sugar intake just since Sunday morning, and my current condition has improved already. So I do see what I need to do, I just know it's not going to be easy. I had kind of figured I'd have to concentrate on veggies & meats. So, I guess that's the kind of dish I'd like to take to the potluck. Either a meat & vegetable dish, or one of each. Maybe a meat dish and a salad with acceptable O dressing. Thanks!! Tracie
Guest guest
HI Tracie, You know you said you are having a difficult time sticking with the diet for the long run. But as you get into it faithfully for about 6 months, you will find that the longer you are on it the easier it is to stick to it. I still cheat from time to time and then go right back to the proper way ER4YT without any side effects. That is how you can stay on it for the long run: cheat only once every two to three weeks for the whole day, then back to the " O " way. Then you will see that by giving yourself the permission to cheat-eat, you won't feel so deprived of the foods you used to eat, and won't cheat quite so often in the duration. When you begin this diet, you feel as though you have landed on another planet and have to adapt to the foods the populace is offering (namely, our " O " diet). Then when you stay faithful for about 6 straight months, when you eat any avoids, your body will start reacting in ways that you forgot that it used to react. Such as, joints aching, sinus problems, skin rashes, sleeping too much and no energy, digestive problems, and acid reflux (stuff like that). You will then decide just how appealing are those avoids to you. Do you want them bad enough to suffer physically for afterwards. Only you can decide. Hang tough!!! aloha, CB Tabitha, I really appreciate reading the things you did to get better! I haven't been very aggressive with my diet or the supplements. Guest guest
Hi Cheryl, I know once I get going I'll stick to the diet. I don't put myself in too many situations where I'm tempted, but the holidays messed me up last year for months! Last year, around this time, I found out the chronic candida yeast could be controlled by diet. I went on a very strict diet, giving up white flour, white rice, refined sugar, dairy, coffee and diet pepsi. I used to drink 2-3 cups of coffee with cream & sugar, and 2 diet pepsi's a day. I stayed faithful to the diet, with only a tiny bit of cheating around Halloween, and even that was natural candy. Then when Thanksgiving came, I couldn't resist the pies!! I didn't get myself back under control until about February. ack! I can't let that happen again this year. Just last weekend, I skipped a family reunion/picnic because I didn't feel strong enough to resist the bad foods. It will be great this Friday to go to my friends house for pot luck, since they are on this diet too I'll be able to enjoy. I'm not sure, with the holidays in the next 6 months, that I can stay faithful to the diet for a good 6 months. I want to stay faithful, I just don't know if I can. I suppose I could choose one day of the month that is a free day. Oh, I almost forgot, I've lost more than 30 pounds since last August. I would like to lose another 10-15 pounds.
