Guest guest
Lowell Have you tried L-Tyrosine? Seems To work well on O's and there is a connection with iodine and thyroid. I started increasing my serotonin levels by eating lots of turkey and bananas, both high in serotonin production. Also, if you check into acupressure, there are two points at the base of the skull that increase it as well.
Guest guest
Dudes! I'm like, woah! Melatonin seems to be a good alternative! Do a search. Ask . Don't ask me. I have it, I have used it, I know it works. If you care enough you won't even ask , you'll do searchs on your own. I'm sure you could use the BTD's message forum search engine and get some threads on the subject of melatonin. It's also good for intensifying the REM stage of sleep... not that there are many people who WANT to exist in the hallucinatory fantasy world of dreams... P.S. Love 'n Light! > Dear Steve, Thanks for your long and detailed reply. It is certainly food for > thought for me as I use 5 HTP. Guest guest
Hi Kathy, Yes, I have tried it and it stimulates the thyroid - it is a pre-cursor to thyroxine I think it is. Anyway, I find that it does not take much to push my thyroid into the hyperthyroid area so don't take it now. Was it stress that it was recommended for or depression? I don't think it is calming at all. Ann , -- Original Message ----- From: kathy matthews Sent: Tuesday, November 13, 2001 1:58 AM Subject: Re: 5 HTP & Rhodiola Lowell Have you tried L-Tyrosine? Guest guest
For me Rhodiola does what your ND said it influences the cortisol levels (that is reduces them!) something I needed, especially when I was going through CFS. Increased stress levels only made the fatigue worse so it was good to find something to 'calm' them down :-) Since I have been able to return to work fulltime I have found it useful when dealing with my share of 8500+ university students per week! (I work in the university's library/learning centre) LnL, Steve - Cheltenham, UK 5 HTP & Rhodiola <snip> > I started Rhodiola about 10 days ago and have not noticed any difference in me at all emotionally or in terms of well being. Not sure what I was expecting? However, my ND has now had me stop it because of its influence on " DHEA/Cortisol levels and the associated sex hormones " - just after starting it my hormones went flukey and having had breast cancer this is not a good thing for me. Guest guest
What is melatonin supposed to do? What is it? I have missed something here. -----Original Message----- a.hultman@... wrote: > Dudes! I'm like, woah! Melatonin seems to be a good > alternative! Melatonin didn't do a thing for me.
