Guest guest
Hi everyone, I don't think I have introduced myself yet, but I have been following the discussion for a few weeks now. I was wondering if I could get some help. I have been following the blood type diet now off and on for about 2 1/2 years (I'm O-). I was never 100% compliant, but made some changes such as eliminating daily oj, eating more meat, decreasing wheat by adding the neutral grains, eating Ezekial/essene breads, drinking black cherry/pineapple/selzer, avoiding dairy, etc. I even started using the O supplements: multi, probiotic, bladderack, ARA-6. For 4 years now I have been pursuing healthier living because of my inability to get pregnant, endometriosis, and chronic bladder pain/infections. I have seen all sorts of holistic and allopathic practioners and have made lots of changes to my diet. This spring my husband and I started to see a naturopath who specializes in women's reproductive issues. I stopped the blood type diet/supplements at this time to follow her program (she's actually a classmate of Dr. D's). Unlike other naturopaths I've been to, she runs lots of lab tests. From these tests I discovered the following health concerns: low cholesterol (120), low T3 and Thyroid Stimulating hormone functioning, low protein and calcium absorption, High IgE and IgG levels to eggs, adrenal gland disfunction (minor), parasite (remedied), moderate candida, inflammation of small and large intestines, and low progesterone levels. I went on a 6 week detox program with the support my naturopath and nutrionist using Ultra Clear (anyone heard of it?). At this time I reintroduced foods and did not have any adverse reactions. After this time, I retested and my intestinal inflammation had decreased somewhat, candida was still present at moderate levels, and we're working to regulate my hormones using natural progesterone. They put me on nystatin to clear the candida, but I was unable to use the full dosage because I reacted poorly to it and after using it for 6 weeks, I still tested positive at the same levels for candida. Currently, I am on a strict candida diet using herbs and foods to clear it. I have also started following the blood type diet again (the O diet is similar to the candida diet). I guess what I'm struggling with is will the blood type diet help my issues? My concern is that when I eat this way, I lose weight. I am already thin and I can't afford to lose the weight. Can I eat grains more often than recommended because of this? I'm wondering if a lot of Dr. D's recommendations are geared toward people trying to lose weight. Also, I don't appear to have any reactions to O avoids like dairy and wheat. I don't notice any difference when I'm on or off them (I was really strict with dairy and wheat for a good year if not more). Despite the issues I just outlined, I feel healthy. I do not have allergies, weaknesses, etc. My endo and bladder infections have disappeared by just eating healthier foods (organics, whole foods). Is dairy a lechtin issue? I would like to eat it because first of all, I like it, and second of all, it helps me keep on weight and can boost my cholesterol. My IgE and IgG food allergy tests do not indicate allergies to any of the O avoids, butI'm thinking that the lechtin issue has nothing to do with this test. Also, when my stomach acid levels were checked, the test revealed low stomach acid. I am confused because I thought O's should have high levels. Now I'm worried that eating meat may not be best for me. I'm wondering if there are aberrations to the blood type theory. I'm thinking that maybe I should just give this diet a try for 6 months or so and try to be 100% compliant and see if it remedies my infertility, candida, and bladder pain. It's a hard decision for me to make because I feel so unsure about it. I also can get pretty obsessive about the diet and it causes so much stress for me. I just don't enjoy myself because I'm always worried about the avoids! Well, thanks for listening and please let me know if you have any advice. Peace, P.S. I've also ordered the secretor test to check my status. I may also post a similar message on the D'Adamo site so my apologies to anyone who has to see this twice! Guest guest
Well, I think that you do know what you have to do to be healthy enough to get pregnant. You must be eating 100% HB foods only. Wheat prevents absorption, so that is a big nono. Besides eating 100%HB, you also have to eat a high protein diet. Eating too many non O foods = low stomach acid. Eat well, follow all the other recommendations and give your body time to adjust itself. You may not feel a difference by eating dairy/wheat, but once you detox your system you will feel their affect. Candida is an easy thing to get rid of as an O. Eliminate grains. You are eating less calories then what you burn up. Want to add weight? Eat more. Use more HB oils to get adequate calories. 1 tablespoon =120 calories. Dairy: the problem is the protein part - can't digest it, so it will store as fat. That is not what you want. Use ginger/carbonated water/lemon to assist your HCL level. What herbs are you taking? love Introduction/Suggestions?(long) Hi everyone, I don't think I have introduced myself yet, but I have been following the discussion for a few weeks now. Guest guest
Hi , I'm sorry, I can't figure out what " HB " means? I'm thinking it's BTD, but not sure. Okay, I'm trying to eat more. Really trying! One way I get more protein is with a product called Ultra Clear Plus. It is a detoxifying protein supplement that my naturopath has had me drinking since March. IT's a concentrated rice protein. What do you think about this? I like it because it's an easy snack food. I include flax/borage oil, ground flax seed, acidolpholus, and jerusalum artichoke flour (FOS supplement). Just received a shipment from NAP so I will be adding ARA-6 to this drink as well. I'm following a candida protocol I found at modernherbalist.com. I felt as if my naturopath's program was not working for me. Basically, I use 4 primary remedies on a rotation basis (4 days each) along with 3 other support remedies and of course the diet. The anti- fungals/parasitics are biocidin (impatiens pallida, hydrastis candadensis, ferulla galbanum, hypericum perforatum, villa rubris, fumaria formosa, frasera carolinesis, gentania campestris, sanguinaria canadensis, allicin), SF722 (10 undecenoic acid), para microcidin HP (grapefruit seed extract), and candimyacin (oregano oil, tymeoil, peppermint oil, and goldenseal root. Support remedies are moybdenum picolinate, Iberogast(iberis amara, matricariae flos, angelica radix, carvi fructus, cardui mariae fructus, melissae fructus, ceheledoni herba, liquritiae radix, menthae pipertae folim, andlactobacillus sporogenese (thorne) and metagenics probiotic. I know some of these ingredients are not O compliant. What do you think? Will it prevent me from clearing the candida? I was thinking that the bloodtype herbal for O's would be helpful. Thanks so much, ! I will eat more. Peace, >
Guest guest
HB - highly beneficial. sorry. I sold it for years when I lived in NY. Use it Rice is not the best source for Os, but what can you do? I'd use the O herbal and O probiotic along with ara and nettle leafs for candida. Just try to understand that eliminating avoids will allow your body to kill off any excess candida. Spend your money on organic food instead, Peace Re: Introduction/Suggestions?(long) Hi , I'm sorry, I can't figure out what " HB " means? I'm thinking it's BTD, but not sure. Guest guest
You almost don't sound like a type O, . In my opinion, I think that following the diet will help your health. But stressing won't. And stressing about things probably won't help you get pregnant. Maybe you should ask your naturopath for something that helps this stress you seem to be having. No-one can guarantee you will get pregnant by following the diet - but it's good to stack the odds on your side. Maybe think about taking up yoga and the like that may help you get in tune with your body. You want a healthy spirit, mind and body to help you get there! Very important. Guest guest
Though Dr D has mention a Type O trait of having a Type A behavior... which includes stressing. Least that is my understanding of his writing.
