This article leaves me less than convinced of the claim made in its

headline. The last paragraph seems to indicate that they don't know

whether it is the start or not. And the first sentence of the last

paragraph doesn't make sense as written. Shouldn't it say, " In terms

of a pandemic we CAN'T SAY WHETHER WE are a big step closer to it at

this stage until we find out about the virus itself. " ?

Of course, I am not suggesting that it IS the start, but why would

the " experts " say categorically that it is _not_, based on " tiny amount

of data " ? I think that this is worth watching.

You're right that this needs to be watched very carefully. The critical thing to watch for is whether or not the virus evolves into a form that will enable it to be transmitted from person to person. Of course, but the question now is, has it already happened. With

seven cases from the same village, two of which have died, it worth

considering. And since they haven't had a chance to fully analyze

the virus yet, I think it is premature for anyone to rule that out.

The hospital to which the patients were brought cannot be reached at

this time, according to one report. According to another report,

the hospital scorned quarantining the patients on the assumption

that it was not human-human transmissable. This is not a disease to

make rash assumption about.
