Guest guest
Donna, Thanks for the advice. As I understand it, kombucha is mainly used as a detoxifyer and I presently do other things to facilitate detoxing, so I probably won't buy another bottle as it was very expensive anyway. It probably was the caffeine that was giving me a boost of energy. Theresa
Guest guest
Janet, I am always open to giving something a try! Could you first give me a brief synopsis of the home-making process, as I have not yet done the research. If it is something that does not take too much care, I would love to share your culture. Thanks for the response. Theresa

I would be interested in making my own, but wanted to make sure I enjoyed the taste before I learn how to do it at home. I'll let you know the brand next time I go to Whole Foods. Theresa Hi Theresa. I did alot of kombucha for about six months, which I made by self at home, and never noticed any benefit. I did get a tiny bit of a lift in energy, but when I did a plain cup of green tea I got the same boost just from the caffiene. And when I stopped doing kombucha I had caffiene withdrawal headaches for about three days. I enjoy the flavor and believed it was a good thing to do, but didn't notice anything good from it. And usually I notice alot, either good or bad. I seem to be a hyper responder and so not responding at all is unusal. Guest guest
Ooops, sorry bout that last empty message, I double clicked accidentally and sent it out without trying. Theresa, Perhaps you didn't get the good effects from the Kombucha because you had a " bad " culture and starter. I've been making Kombucha for more than 10 years and have found the quality of cultures does differ tremendously. With a good culture you will indeed notice a big difference when taking just a small amount of the tea. Sometimes the commercial teas are far from the good ones you can get as hand me downs. It's been a belief in the kombucha crowd that if you pay for your kombucha or starter that the culture will be dead. Mind over matter here I guess, but it does seem to make a difference. They are after all a living organism. I would be more than happy to share my culture and starter with anyone willing to reimburse the postage for mailing it. It's been very good to us as to those I've given it too. I'm sure you would see a noticeable difference in the quality of tea it makes. Very powerful stuff!
